Poor players, finding out later than everyone else, how will they cope, hungover as well, definitely will derail the preseason.

So who do we look to (blame) next year if we have poor performances again? Another year of Woosha telling us about learnings and players driving their own performance? Or Rutten who doesn't get to defend his own strategies?

The big difference between this and Sheedy/GWS is that everyone knew they were developing and weren't going to be playing finals for years etc. The other big difference is they didn't have a million supporters Australia wide judging the decision week in week out.

This has a 'me too' look all over it but it's not apples for apples. Dangerous decision imo.

Fwiw, from the inside knowledge I have from the playing group, the players absolutely love Rutten. I definitely think that played a major part in the decision.

This is sort of what happened at Pies with Malthouse and Buckley. Mick had a very good final year and resented having to hand over.

He had an even better year before.

Difference here is it’s 1 year and Woosha goes back to Perth. There’s no real Buckley as senior and Malthouse as coaching director scenario.

I think the major difference is that Worsfold is pretty keen to head home.

Woosha is effectively Senior Assistant next year (as he probably has been to a degree this year). Rutten gets to be Senior Coach without the pressure or media, sounds like a great idea to me.

Probably a difficult question for a bunch of nuffies on a football forum to answer, but we sure are putting a lot of faith in him.
