Opinion Ben Sinclair - Never again

Are you saying he's the midget version of Cameron Wood, but is equipped with some tackling pressure?
Wood had skill but no heart. Sinclair has heart but no skill.

I'm all for a Sinclair delist.
He's just too unko and should be cleared out.
We made a good effort to clear out unko players end of last season, time for him to go too.
Can't fault his effort so good luck to him elsewhere.
Bit harsh, me thinks.

I've always been a supporter of Sinclair, as Ive tried to recognize his ability to run and put pressure on.
But man... he cant kick for sh!t. Getting a bit tired of our wasted opportunities in front of goal.

Sinclair has great speed but i rarely see his tackles turn the ball over for us they are more just put pressure on the opponent rather then actually affecting the play. His goal kicking is not AFL level and we need to bring in someone who can kick goals and make opportunities by placing themselves in the correct positions. Maybe he needs to get some confidence in the VFL with set shots on goal

Would also like to see him play defence in the VFL to see if he can mark a small forward as we need someone to shut down all these small forwards that can take us apart

Never been a fan of Sinclair and doubt I ever will. Sure he may add the pressure component but butchers the ball at will so much so that if he kicks a goal from further than 20 metres out its a damn surprise.

One trick pony and despite the hopes and dream of people on this board, his kicking skills won't improve. If he is still getting regular games in 2 to 3 years time, it means we have gone backwards.

Sinclair as a tagger has merit. Problem is that the best taggers these days have inside games and core strength.

Sinclair could only tag pure outsiders. He would be a liability on the ball because he would get pushed off it.

Similarly, I can't see him as a back pocket because I'm not sure about his contested ability in the air...and he would be there to create some run which would be a worry considering his average footskills.

I think he just needs to put a bit more bulk on and work significantly on his footskills. I'm talking hours after training kicking for goal, kicking on the run and also needs to spend a lot more time with Cloke and learn to crumb off him.

2 weeks down the track, I'll say it again.....NEvER AGAIN!

Look he clearly isn't a lock in the best 22. Like many others in the squad he is currently boarderline depending on match ups and form. He probably does need to go back to the 2's for a while but he has played decent games for us, he is still young and he may well go on to improve and play many more.

Clearly Buckley and the rest of the coaching staff feel he is playing a role or have faith in his potential. Fair enough to call for him to be dropped but to say a young player (who appears to always try his hardest) should never play again is just a terrible call.

Remember there have been threads like this one about Ben Johnson, Liegh Brown in the past , just to name 2 that spring to mind. Both went on to be key components of our last flag.

Sorry to continue my Sinclair obsession, but I just got home from the G and the first 3 quarters he seemed to butcher everything he went near.
His disposal is terrible, decision making is poor, and he does not read it well.
I'll concede that he tries hard and is quick, but FFS, I'm looking forward to getting better players into the side in the run up to finals.

Who are you proposing as the small back to replace him?

He struggled early tonight (he bounced back in the last half imo) but after 5 solid weeks you shouldn't get dropped for a down game in a position we we are struggling for depth in.

He only butchered 1 ball tonight. He's a great defensive player.

I think Marley and Heater are our two small defenders.
Do we need a third?

Sinclair has been good since moving to defense. He is going to get crucified for the one big turnover because everyone notices it. The switch was on, he made the right decision. It was the same time of the game Adelaide were spreading and working harder. He was let down by his team mates who didn't provide an option. That's how I read that play at the time.

I can't recall precisely but he seemed to go for a 40+ m kick which was stretching his abilities and perhaps had space to bounce and run a bit further to make a shorter more achievable kick?

Was this the one on the quarter time or half Time siren?
