Opinion Ben Sinclair - Never again

The one thing (and there are a few others) that really irks me about Sinclair is that when we get centre clearances he gets outmarked 1 on 1 and that leads to a lot of rebound space for the opposition to slice through the field back at us.

He isn't that bad, but i think Mooney takes his spot ASAP.

Will be good depth. IF he can fix his kicking will be a good player
He is that bad! He did nothing of worth either offensively or defensively. He is not of AFL standard and I agree 100% with the OP. Should never again play AFL footy.

People judge this kid weekly! One week its how good he is next he is crap. He has value. And hopefully can learn to kick better
Maybe one week good, three weeks bad. Elliott was considered a similar player, except now we have seen that Elliott has poise and kicks goals.

He doesn't have enough scoreboard impact unfortunately. He fumbles a fair bit, he fluffs far too many kicks and at the moment he gets pushed off the ball far too easy.

We really need more small forwards to have greater scoreboard impact because its being left to Cloke, Lynch and Elliott too much.

Sorry to say but he is a spud. We all keep clutching at those couple of decent games he had last year before he got injured. He has done nothing since then and today it was like having one less player on field. Hes a hungry fk in front of goal and cant finish for shit. Sick of him. U throw didak in the team. U sacrifice some tackling but in return u get around 25 decent possessions which some are potentially goal assists + goals. Sinclair needs to be dropped asap.

His best is ok, but is bad is about as worse as it gets. He never performs consistently either, he is a one step forward two steps back kind of player. Given we have at least two kids (even with all our injuries) I think could have been more valuable today he has to go. Josh Thomas and Kennedy would have been more valuable today.

Kennedy would take his Place and I think be a way better choice then Sinclair

We can say all he brings is forward pressure, but it's a pretty important commodity right now.

My view is he won't be a long term player, but until we have someone to play that role - and he is quick - it's hard to turf him. If Kennedy was fit enough, I'd play him. He's definitely quick and I think a converter. He also will be a chance for a midfield spot in time.

I don't know how I feel about this forward pressure nonsense. I think we need to work with what we have got. Every team wants a Cyril Rioli, that's where all this garbage about speedy small forwards really locking the ball in the fwd 50 came from, we don't have any player near his type. If you have a decent crumber anywhere in the forward 50 they should be able to snap at goal when the ball falls to ground. No speed required. Better to have fast midfielders. No better forward pressure than kicking goals.

Ridiculous overreaction thread.

If we are going to drop him on the back of one poor game let's also drop Sidebottom, Shaw, and Russell as well.
Very different.

We know what Shaw and Sidebottom can produce, their best is ultimately better than Sinclair and you know that this is just a one-off bad game. Plus I didn't rate Sinclair's game last week. Thought he was pretty good against North though.

And I thought Russell was better than Sinclair.

The point remains that we should not drop a player who has performed reasonably well so far on the basis of one poor performance. Last week he kicked two goals - as a small forward two goals is a pass mark. The week before he practically tackled every single opposition player. Yes he was poor today, I also feel he was told to be extra defensive today, as I hardly saw him lead or attack the ball, which is unusual because I have often seen him present a lot more than he did today.

I'm saying to drop him BECAUSE I thought he was poor last week.

Last week he had 14 touches, five tackles and kicked two goals. I think your argument of having him dropped is a little unjustified.
I'm saying to drop him because his best isn't far from his average, and his best and average don't come quite as often.

I'm not saying this is what his potential reaches up to, but let him improve in the VFL, not on the AFL stage.

Next week against Richmond is a big game, they are a side I rate HIGHLY. Fasolo taking his place in the starting field is a much better idea, and Didak taking Fas spot is even better.

Elliott always showed with his marking ability an asset worth persisting with.

Sinclair makes me cringe when he gains possession.
Didak is the opposite of Sinclair in almost every way.
