Opinion Ben Sinclair - Never again

Yeah I'd accept Krak in for Sinclair. He is a legitimate roving threat up forward and can go into the middle in spurts. Get him back in. Fasolo back in the starting line up too. Had a week as sub. Need his skills.

Didak is not a pressure forward, that's not a good comparison. I think Didak is a fantastic weapon if he's fit, but he's not competing with Sinclair in my view. He's competing with the likes of Young or Krakouer. A player like Fasolo, Cafe or Kennedy is on his hammer.

I hope it's Kennedy because he has the pace.

Not comparing Didak to Sinclair at all. In fact if you read what I wrote, I said they were complete opposites.
Didak has loads of natural talent and silky skills but doesnt go hard 100% of the time and his forward pressure is average.
However his ball use is terrific and i for one will overlook his failings for what he does bring.
Sinclair tries his best but he brings a plastic spoon to a gun fight.

Saw something interesting on facebook the other day, the AFL posted a graphic dividing up the 50m arc and showing who was the best shot from various spots (10m out left/rightcentre, 30m out left/right centre etc.). Cloke was the best shot from 50m out on the left side of the 50m arc, which should be his hardest kick, but he's the best at it in the AFL o_O
He was awesome yesterday.

Sinclair was no good, I'd like to see him dropped personally.
Haha yeah, I remember seeing that. Had to double check it when I saw it.

Ben Reid was recruited as a forward and played as a forward, it ultimately didn't work out. He went back in the magoos and spent an entire season developing as a key defender. Worked out unbelievably well as I'm sure all would agree.

Maybe it is time to try Sinclair in a different role as a lock down defender/back pocket? We can surely do without him in the team (at this stage) and give him multiple games to develop in the VFL as a small defender. We have nothing to lose but a hell of a lot to gain.
We also mustn't forget that BJ will most likely retire at season's end, then we're really up shit creek with no small pacy defender.

For the record I don't blame Sinclair for yesterday's loss, but I do agree its time to drop him. Not sure who to bring in but it will probably be either Didak or Krakouer at this stage.

How about Paine?

Surely you jest. Elliott >>>>>>>>>>>>> Sinclair.

Late last season i would have said Sinclair over Elliot, as you said. Elliots ahead by lots now. Krakouer and Elliot working together in the forward line and harassing is something i cant wait to see

I loved the season when we had medders, davis, daisy and dids all working through the forward line

How about Paine?
Only for a big man, Dave. Paine needs to absolutely demand an AFL game before he becomes best 22. We cannot drop a speedy player for a slow flanker. On the VFL telecast his height was listed at 194 cm, which is an exaggeration. He is only 192 cm, an in-between size for a forward.

We obviously have better depth this year, because last year posters were regularly calling for Paine's promotion when he impressed in the VFL. A patient approach with Paine, and waiting for the right opportunity to reintroduce him to senior football, are advisable. We would not want to overload our forward line with 3 talls, unless there is some obvious advantage to be gained.

Someone shorter but fast and evasive might be preferable. Fasolo certainly filled mid-field and forward line needs in the 4th quarter. Didak and Krakouer are other candidates for forward spots. If we can include these players in the team, our forward line should function more efficiently.

Sinclair had a bad game but I would be inclined to give him another chance. His tackling and forward pressure are important to us. I think he is being used as the scapegoat for a poor team effort.

Thoughts about developing Sinclair into being a tagger?
Not opposed to it.

What Sinclair needs is footy experience and footy smarts. What better way than tagging good players?

i would develop him as our back pocket, not classy enough to be a forward. change his role , put him back in the vfl and let him have 6 weeks in that role and see how he is there.

I like the idea and can't believe i hadn't thought of it earlier. The only problem would be his ability at reading the ball in the air.

And his disposal under pressure. And him constantly being knocked off the ball.

I don't like it, if you look at the good taggers in the comp they are all bulky and mean, sinclair is neither of those things. You need to be bulky to have the strength to hold the player you are tagging out of the area he wants to get to. You also need to be mean to give ur opponent one in the ribs and get nasty with your words to get him off his game.

He could potentially be a highly situational tagger (eg players like birchall) but if he wants to play 22 games a year it won't work.

And his disposal under pressure. And him constantly being knocked off the ball.

If he was playing on guys like garlett that wouldn't be a problem. Hopefully he could use his pace and a long kick to get out of high pressure situations. I'd like to see it tried

I'm all for a Sinclair delist.
He's just too unko and should be cleared out.
We made a good effort to clear out unko players end of last season, time for him to go too.
Can't fault his effort so good luck to him elsewhere.

Are you saying he's the midget version of Cameron Wood, but is equipped with some tackling pressure?

I reckon he would have trade value

A few teams would be interested in him for a late 2nd rounder / 3rd rounder or as part of a package

He would get picked up in the draft but I don't think anyone would actually give us anything for him.
Not if he plays the season out in the vfl anyway, which is hopefully what will happen.

I think Sinclair needs to develop his body more and get that core strength before we claim him as a tagged.. From my perspective, Sinclair, Caffer and Goldsack will make reasonable trade bait this year.. I think we have seen just about the best they have so lets not let them linger any longer.

Lets face it once we get some guys back from injury they'll be the first to go along with Russell & Clarke.

Goldsack will have 35 goals by the year end.
He's just getting started.
Caff will get better as he gets some touch back. If nothing else he's quality depth.
Sinclair is just a frenzied hustler he won't be worth anything as trade bait and he's a liability to the side.

I want to sack your unco spelling...

He is in the team to do a role, not to get 30 possessions every week. First two rounds he was great, against the Hawks he was average, as were many others...Stop using him as a scapegoat and get behind him

So when he got 7 disposals against north with 0 behinds 0 goals he was great? o_O
