Another typical Bendigo result. In the game at 3/4 and withing 8 minutes of the quarter the game is over. I also love the best players list.
Not sure Atkinson gets in the best considering most of his first half possessions where turn overs.

Anyway.

Neagle- what can you say. Ordinary. No second efforts if the ball lands more than 5 meters away. Going no where at the moment and you could not blame playing for bendigo today as they where playing ok until 3/4 time. turned the ball over on more than half his possessions.

Jetta - played half back until the last quarter. Now he will never be a defender and the reasoning behind him playing there is to develop his defensive side. It was interesting watching him in defence. He got caught out a few times just zoning off but he was good as a link player and gave the side some run from the back half.

Zaharakis- not great beofre half time but was better in the second half. Finished the game well and was good in the last quarter.

Myers- close to our best. His clearance work was great and his hands at ground level where one touch all day. Kicking was good today as well.
his tackling was good.

Williams- kicked a goal and flew for one huge specy and missed. That was about it.

Daniher- played mainly forward. Took a couple of good marks on the lead but missed some easy goals. Ok without being great.

Atkinson- could not not put him in the best simply becasue his disposal was ordinary in the first half. Had a strong last quarter in defence.

Quinn- did well. Still working on the mistakes he makes but is preapred to take the game on and back his pace. Reads the play very well.

Lovett-Murray- did a few good things but also gave away some dumb free kicks. Not a game that screamed pick me next week.

Houli- thought he was pretty good. Won some ball in the middle and seems to be working harder on finding a man when the ball is going the other way.

Bellchambers- was about 50/50 in the tap work. Took some good marks around the ground but has to get the "plod " out of his game.
Needed to work harder/faster to position himself around the ground.

German- was handy all day. In and under and tackling.

Nash did not play and the Bock and Klemke played seconds yesterday.

Cheers for the report Ant, much appreciated.

On Williams, I didn't expect to see those comments pop-up on the screen at all! :D

On a serious note, good to hear Myers & Houli are travelling along nicely. :thumbsu:

Daniher- played mainly forward. Took a couple of good marks on the lead but missed some easy goals. Ok without being great.

Now that Hurley, Pears and Hooker seem ahead of Daniher for the key back positions, do you think that he could become a forward for us?

Just a quick report on today's game against Geelong @ WH.

Jay Neagle - Felt sorry for Jay today. Worked hard on the lead but most of the time he was either ignored or the kick to him was poor. His 2nd and 3rd efforts were quite good, often leaving him absolutely stuffed. Took one strong mark inside 50 and converted, other then he was pretty quiet. He did smash Dan McKenna in a contest in the last qrt, big hit.

Leroy Jetta - Started in the backline. Got a bit of it and was pretty good with his run, carry and pressure. Still seems to rush his disposal at times, but he found Neagle a couple of times on the lead with lovely 40m passes. Ended playing on the ball in the last qrt with minimal affect.

David Zaharakis - Solid game by Zaka. His first half was workman like, his 2nd half was very good. Kicked a great 50m bomb after linking up with NLM, played mostly on the wing and for me his tackling was a highlight. Got a couple of frees for dropping the ball. Got plenty of touches and finished with a couple of sausage rolls.

David Myers - Was pretty good at the stoppages and around the ground. He used the ball very well on both sides and his work in traffic to find space and then deliver was most promising. Had at least min 5 clearences and kicked a goal, played on the ball.

John Williams - No good today and he really struggled. Refuses to take a mark out in front, choosing to take it on the chest. Got spoiled and out positioned way too easily today and provided nothing. Had a few shots at goal and failed to capitalise. Can't make it at VFL level, let alone AFL.

Darcy Daniher - He was ok to Darcy. Played mostly up forward took some marks leading up the ground and with Jay provided the hit up target. His influence was minimal, but he never stopped presenting and providing a contest. Like Jay, often the kick going inside 50 was poor.

Jarrod Atkinson - Played the majority of the game in the backline and it was his usual game. Plenty of dash, then turnover. Battled hard and won plenty of the ball, but often missed the target. Linked up well with Leroy coming out defence, but that's where it ended. Kicked a goal in the last qrt.

Michael Quinn - Played up forward. He has a go that's for sure. Did a bit of razzle dazzle baulking the man on the mark then drilling the pass to Darcy. Still has a bit to learn, I'm from comfortable when he has the ball in his hands, but he's having a dip and you can't question his endeavour.

NLM - Hard to rate his game. He wasn't bad nor good, but going on today's performance he wouldn't be worthy of selection for Essendon. Layed plenty of tackles and provided some run up the middle, apart from that, that was it really. Played a bit on the ball on the wing. Got a lot his touches in Geelong's half.

Bachar Houli - Played on the ball and a little bit in defence. Had a ripping 2nd qrt, where he was killing them at the clearences and around the ground. Used the ball pretty well today and his pressure and tackling was good. Looks like a rolls royce playing VFL, kicked a goal in the first qrt. Should push for Essendon selection this week.

Tom Bellchambers - I thought he played excellent today. Rucked all day against West and Dawson (Geez, he is a big kid), won his fair share of hit outs and was good around the ground. Took marks a kick behind play and a few in Bendigo's 50. His decision making today was good even though he turned the ball over a couple of times. Still not AFL ready, but the signs are really good.

Thomas German - Had a tagging role on one of the Geelong midfielders. Cause of his negative role, he didn't get much of it. Injured his knee in the last qrt, but played the game out. In and under all day.

Ask me any questions if I haven't already covered it...

Cheers Dustbin. :thumbsu:

Us Bomber supporters are blessed this evening. Two stunning reviews. :)

Ok, 2 very different views of Jays game.

really getting pissed off with big jay, he should be kicking decent bags in this level, how will he ever make it if he cant kick goals for bendigo? think he needs to do a jobe and do a massive pre season of boxing etc.... always thought he would make it but having my doubts now...

Ok, 2 very different views of Jays game.

There were at least two occassions where Jay started at HF and ended up at HB after following up from a marking contest. Chased, laid the tackle & attempted the smother.

Mind you he was being heavily encouraged by Hickey (Coached from the boundary) and he was absolutely buggered. Everyone has an opinion, I thought Jay's 2nd and 3rd efforts were quite good without being rewarded.

If he receives decent delivery, then yes I'd expect him to be kicking bags. But he's not.

Fantastic to hear the reserves broke their two year win drought.
Judging by the report, Bock, Klemke and Carroll were all decent, albeit in the seconds. Can anyone confirm that?

My brother played for Bendigo in their reserves win so it will be interesting if the comments were about the game or the alliance.

Unless I'm wrong, efcboy will be reporting on Bendigo v Geelong.

I was standing near Hickey for the majority of the game as well, so I too look forward to efcboy report.

And there where at least 4 times i counted where he stopped dead after a contested marking situation and did not chase at all.
On top of that his first 4 disposals where turn overs and he did not get much better in that department for the rest of the day.

i watched the game from the boundary right near hickmott and heard some disturbing comments...i'll give my full report tomorrow about this...its not good.

Well we all know that you have made up your mind already becasue you don't rate his 1/4 time adress as inspirational.

Cheers Dustbin and ant! :thumbsu:
Was looking forward to reports on Bendigo. Good to hear about Myers and Houli. I was hoping Houli might have gotten a run against Sydney.
Has Houli's defensive game become more consistent?

Do you see either of these two being selected to play WB?

Looking forward to efcboy's report.
