the bendigo coach is also going to be a development coach so someone not long out of the game would be a good option. michael voss would be an absolute coup but unlikely.

read ants post mate find it in the bendigo vs ballarat post dont judge him on his coaching record, judge him on the players he has developed
Don't remember that I was actually judging him at all. Simply asked you to explain why a 10 goal turnaround in 1 quarter isn't what it appears.

Have to take your word I guess as I couldn't find the post you're talking about.

One point though, it's interesting to say don't judge our next "coach" by his coaching record, his good at "something else". What happens if he turns out to be the world's greatest at "something else" and a lousy coach - do we still then ignore the coaching record?

Just because you can develop players, doesn't necessarily mean you can coach - there's a lot more to it than that.

can only coach with what you have. he coached bendigo with wat he had in the finals. 7 afl players, 15 vfl players- which were about half weren't up to vfl standard. cant run out a game with 7 or so blokes who cant play ones. and with out a bench. having to play 3 or 4 blokes who couldnt run in the 2nd half. they were down to 16 players.
best team was against williamstown and coburg. coburg got into the grand final and bendigo smashed coburg by 10goals didnt have a better team then that. if that exact team played in the finals they would of gone pretty close to gf.
knights has done a good job in professionlising bendigo. demands the highest of his players and is hard on them. plays no favourites as shown with the delistings and retirements. he wont be as high profile as sheedy (as if anyone will be) but he will be a gr8 coach at afl standards. who cares if he is good at something else essendon see something in him and im going to back him all the way. the club are behind him and if your a dons supporter get behind him cos essendon will be in the finals and in contention within 3 yrs.

Ray Hall has the job
You have got to be kidding me? Hope you are not talking about the Ray Hall that just got de-listed by Richmond...

If it is... may aswell call ourselfs the Richmond Football Club. What next Frawley assistant :thumbsd:

Hey, don't go reading into this that I'm against Knights - I've not said ANYTHING here like that. I simply asked what was this "thing" that mitigated the finals debacle.
My other concern was that just because he has a history of developing players does not necessarily mean the guy has all the other attributes to coach. You WILL NOT find a more ardent supporter than me and, whilst I admit I was disappointed we ended up going for Knights after all the hoo-haa the board made about getting the best for the position, he's now there & I will support ANYONE who wears the colors come the next season (player or support staff).

Ray Hall has the job

if this is true we are going to be a laughing stock. i have supported the decisions so far and am happy to be proven wrong but what credentials does ray hall bring to the table. from where i see he:
- was a dud full back
- has no coaching experience
- poor skill execution
- played in a losing culture

if anyone can give me some evidence that he has something to offer i'm happy to hear it

thank christ its in our constitution that the sash is red!

I'm surprised they haven't made an appointment here.

Shortlist of candidates I have is:

* Nick Carter - the well respected former captain - almost the heart and soul of Bendigo since it was first founded as the Diggers.

* Mark Bolton - it certainly came under my notice that early on in '07..at a game between Bendigo and the Bullants at Carlton, that Bolton was given a responsibility as an on-field team leader..almost to the point of being an assistant coach. He coached the forwards that day. Was he being developed?

* Scott Camporeale - he too took a fair bit of responsibility as a midfiled coach at Bendigo throughout the year.

carter is not in the running to much with his job at bendigo bank and linked to golden square back in bendigo

bolton could i would rather bolton then campo think bolts is more approachable then campo

out of those three i would say bolts would be the front runner. has been at the club for long enough maybe a playing coach like teague? could work out well then maybe carter could be off field coach ???

Given Bolts background with study and also his community work, I find it hard to believe he would move into the coaching field, nor have the time for it.

i agree peter dean sounds like a great candidate but haven't heard his name mentioned. given he has been an u18 coach you would think he would make a good development coach.

What about Peter Dean?
Coached the Murray Bushrangers and I think he is a Bendigo boy

I thought he was alright until i sat near the box for the Bushrangers Prelim final. Talk about going off. Every minor mistake it was F*** this and F*** that. He was carrying on so much i was surprised he had time to watch any of the game.

I'd like to see campo, always had good skills just his body let him down at the end. when he came to essendon said wanted to repay us, what better way than teaching all the young kids how to read the play and become stars.

If campo not keen then peter dean would be great, even bewick should be looked at if he is out of contract.
