Yeah their juniors are incredibly strong - The new Gisborne giants under 19s and under 17s may have diluted their pool though. And they are not fond of each other I’m hearing the animosity between the two is very hostile - anyway a good club who will only continue to improve

Terrible idea to create a second Gisborne junior club

The Riddell junior league put a cap on the number of teams a junior club could field in each age group….

Being a big fish in a small pond winning by big margins every week does nothing for junior development.

Gisborne juniors should have gone down to the Essendon District and played against the other well ran junior clubs such Keilor Strathmore and Abers…

Playing against strong Bendigo or Ballarat league junior clubs would have also been a better option.

Kyneton by 12 goals over Castlemaine today in front of what must have been one of the biggest home and away crowds in league history.

Maine lost two of it's best in the first 10 minutes with injury, Denahy was one which was a huge blow. Magpies also had their coach in isolation which wasn't ideal.

Kyneton definitely improved but not enough to contend in my eyes, probably a bottom half of the 5 side. Game was pretty competitive but the body size of Kyneton was telling, men against boys at times.

If he is overlooked by Richmond VFL enough, lock Bailey Henderson in for the Michelson.

I reckon if you get to the Showgrounds Friday for Kyneton vs Gisborne you will see a crowd double that size.

Spoke to my brother that was there yesterday, he said Castlemaine looked a much more competitive side.

He reckons Bailey Henderson could win a Michelson in a side that doesn’t win a game, does believe after what he saw yesterday he would be very surprised if Castlemaine dont win 3 or 4 games.

Chappy also didn’t coach for Kyneton yesterday apparently.
He was speaking to one of the Tigers supporters at the game who said they will have close to 8 come back in Round 2 who missed due to Covid.

As for my Dogs, a great win considering what we were missing with Covid. The young kids really stood up

Kyneton Gisborne next week has blockbuster written all over it.

Good to see Castlemaine get a good win,

Huge result for the club and just reward for a lot of hard working people. One of those things that you don't realise just what it means until it happens.

The guys brought in to the club this year all stood up, and allowed some of the youngsters to shine as well. The upside is they still haven't been able to get close to the best side on the field yet so some further improvement to come.

Fair to say I'm not match fit for a win however, a long trip back across the plain and a large night of celebrations and I'm going to need the long break to get back for round three.

Love your honesty

Gives the players some confidence as well for next week

Any of the Kyneton faithful give us an insight into last night's game, scoreboard would suggest they're still a long way off the pace
In the game at 1/4 time but got blown away by a very good side, apparently 2-3 to still come back in. well done to Kyneton for organising the day, they do it better than anyone else I would say 2000 in attendance

Gisborne to win the flag by 10 goals

Biggest crowd I have seen at at home and away match during my time in local footy.

Great to see all the Gisborne players and supporters spend the majority of the night in the social rooms after the game as well it was pumping in there.

As for the footy.
The first quarter was as quick as footy as you will see in BFL This year.

My boys were outstanding for the full four quarters and without getting ahead of myself with our full strength side ( which we were pretty close to on Friday ) I think we are a 10-12 goal better side than the next best side Strath.

all the talk about McKenna and Scanlon, Kemp is the one I believe brings the biggest X factor to our club and is in for a massive year

Kyneton are streets ahead of where they were last year and I believe will certainly be playing footy in September. Their new recruit Cam Manuel could be anything. 29 possessions and 4 goals from the midfield in his first game at the club.

Looks like Kyneton had 4/5 of their best 18 out so when they come back in should help the depth at the bottom end.

Look forward to seeing how Kyneton match up against Strath next week as I think they are clearly the 2nd best side, so will give the tiges faithful a better understand exactly where they are at.

Big call to say they are 10 to 12 goals better than Strathfieldsaye
