Was at The Top Friday night when I learnt of this … Expect a couple more major league capable players shortly which can only be a positive thing regardless of the cost.

Do Broadford have an open ended salary cap and points for 2026?

Blokes on here complain about the lack of quality players in the league but then shit on clubs when they go out and sign quality players and go straight to “cap cheats”
The way in which Broadford were brought into the league was always going to see resentment .

Bit hard when he was playing AFL
You know the gist of what I was saying.
Far from 'shitting over' anyone, or being resentful, I'm rapt to see players of the calibre of Narkle and Bauer coming in.
The league needs top-end talent to boost the standard overall.
But I can also understand the fact no one has done a thing to help Maryborough, who have always been a solid BFNL citizen in their time in the league, while all sorts of sweeteners have been thrown Broadford's way, does grate.
Seems they pick and choose who to help.

There are a number of clubs that need assistance around the state but have not got the handouts of that of Broadford.
Other than getting what other clubs coming out of recess get in cap and points.

What hand outs did they get?

Agree with that but it’s not just narkle and broadford. The first comment in regards to Horbury returning to south was about AFL central vic turning a blind eye to flight tickets. The truth is nobody on here has any idea about the details of contracts/playing arrangements for anyone. There seems to be talent coming into the league, especially for teams that have struggled recently, that’s good news.

So what your saying if youre a struggling club, its better to take a year off and reform a year later and afl vic will help you by giving you 60 points and pretty well wont look at your books to see if you overspend.

There are many clubs due to the points system, that cant see any hope of playing finals, they get 2 extra points from other sides and no additional salary.

Wheres Broadford cash flow coming from suddenly? Its not a mallee club that relies on cropping, you are suggesting that bingo covers the costs of hiring a coach, ex afl players and finding 18 other senior players.

It must be like the Vegas strip for thursday night bingo in broady. Senior coach with afl experience, driving from Kyneton 3 times a week, must be 60-80k to get him interested. Narkle 10 games, id think 5k a game conservatively thats 50k, broadford were never massive spenders.

Good on them for having a crack, but many bottom dweller major league clubs will be shaking their heads in disbelief, wondering why this club is getting preferential treatment from higher powers

Well we have seen wang get smashed for flying in ankers, Dimboola and Robinvale too.

South got away with points, if youre flying a guy in from Noosa its an expensive exercise, none of these things were afforded to maryborough, we want an even playing field

What do you mean offered to Maryborough? Did the league offer this opportunity to south?
I wish all the best for Maryborough but it seems they had many issues to sort out before they could field a competitive side. Are other clubs meant to stand still and do nothing out of respect for Maryborough?
