From what I was told it’s early days for Castlemaine and won’t be this year but next year becoming almost certain.

Crazy can fact check me but I hear the young bloke who has been President is finishing up this year and that’s prompting a bit of a look to the future. They are looking at Kyneton who are stoked with the move and thinking it looks pretty good. There doesn’t seem to be anything to lose by moving. If they can’t get to Riddell then Central Highlands appeals as more of a small town competition.

I don’t know much about Flat but I think they are further down the road they just can’t find a spot to go to as they won’t get in Heathcote and the others have limited appeal.

Not sure if Castlemaine will make it to Riddell. With 11 teams already in the comp and Sunbury Kangaroos looking to leave the EDFL and return that might make things tricky for the Maine if that’s where they want to go. I’d love to see them and the Kangaroos in the RDFL so I hope it happens.

I think flat need to get the off field in order. Otherwise wherever they go theyll be bottom of the ladder.

As truck posted a few days ago the bomber bennett exit, Nathan johns appointment, the appointment last year smells of a club that has no idea. Great appointment this year though, but far too late in the piece.

I know they were seriously considering the mcdfl last year, they've got a Castlemaine connection, but I think zero thought was given to netball with that.

They look to me like a club with no plan, let's hope they try recruit at least 6 of their under 18 flag team back and I'd go hard for 3 brothers that play where 2 ex flat play and they'd be a good side next year.

Id think both get in and hopefully rupo come back too. One Sunbury team should also look at Ballarat

Castlemaine president is hoping for a 2 division bfl. They only way that happens if two major leagues join. Surely someone could have explained to him that the hdfl merging with the bfl is not happening. You cant have small towns play a Castlemaine

I think the only way Castlemaine gets into the RDFL is if a current team leaves. Personally I can’t see Melton Centrals hanging around much longer and will join the Western region league.

Once apon a time the RDFL was two divisions & we might just see that happen again.

Whoever jumps first will get into the RDFL surely, unless Eynesbury is actually committed to.
Get the netball element sorted Vlodrive before someone else takes the final spot.

Carol said in the newest article about Gisborne that she is happy with the standard of Footy and Netball and she doesn’t buy in to the story of the standard has dropped as she says O&M want to be BFNL in interleague next year. She is completely utterly hopelessly out of touch. BFNL barely has a pulse and O&M would win by 300. Standard of BFNL is as bad as I’ve ever seen it and not a standard to be hanging your hat on. Unbelievably pathetic how far her head is in the sand. Bendigo footy must free it self from the suffocating stupidity of AFLVIC immediately for 2026….

For wh
Why don't the Board and region get together and make the BFNL a true Bendigo-only comp? Give the new teams heaps of help with points and salary cap relief.

1 Sandhurst Seniors
2 Eaglehawk Seniors
3 Marong Seniors
4 South Bendigo Seniors
5 Strathfieldsaye Seniors
6 MGYCW Seniors
7 Golden Square Seniors
8 Kangaroo Flat Seniors
9 White Hills Seniors
10 North Bendigo Seniors

Would reduce travel, hopefully build local rivalries (and gates) and allows both LV and Heathcote leagues to be true Country town leagues.

I started reading and posting here after hearing about Forest St End’s and Crazy’s posts.

If you go back and read them they have basically had inside info on just about everything that has happened for the past three years at league level and they said there was a rally against the board over summer but it was strong armed by the board with the support of loyal clubs.

I heard a whisper who Crazy might be on the weekend and it’s not surprising he is better connected than any of us. Forest if you read this please come back and tell us what is going on as well.
But at the same time they were also arguing that Gisborne, Castlemaine, Kangaroo Flat, South Bendigo and Eaglehawk have one foot out the door due to disgust with the board.

So we're expected to believe over half the league is furious with the board, but also any board challenge is being scuppered by clubs.

Good one Forest.

It’s a very difficult position for all involved .
The AFL are pushing for community football to become more aligned to the professionalism and committment that is seen at AFL level , to expose players to that type of environment to make it easier to identity those who can transition to the AFL .
Yet community players and volunteers particularly post covid have identified there’s more to life than AFL and more ways to engage with people than at the footy .
Ultimately as the level of commitment increases the level of interest is decreasing .
Within the hub enviroment those who portray the AFL wishes are supported , backed and somewhat protected by the AFL .
Many leagues took the of leap of faith into the AFL hub system assuming alignance with big brother would always ensure the best for their communities .
Unfortunately that hasn’t proven to be the case and now many leagues who took that step are now at their lowest eb and in some cases boards although knowing it’s heading in the wrong direction aren’t convinced they have the ability to cut ties .
Many leagues are cashed strapped , having declining interest which is seeing declining crowds , uneven competitions and decreasing standard of competition .
No league board member is deliberately doing the wrong thing they just can’t see an alternate way forward . In some cases they’ve also lost sufficient support , for clubs to support them to go a different direction .
I may have seen the other side whereby $100k have been spent , including on personal investigators , in an attempt to disclose exposure and defame .
That sort of shit don’t happen if there’s nothing to hide .
Support your league , Carol is a good person.
