I had a look at the 2nd half today of Gisborne against Strath. Looks like the damage was done early but Gisborne were in complete control still through the 2nd half.
A couple of left field observations:
1. Strath’s coaches box was busier than NASA’s Mission Control centre. Complete overkill for local footy the amount of coaches they have. Would do my harm than good in my opinion with the amount of different voices the players would hear.
2. While Gisborne were in control, they have one youngish player who will end up fair and square on his backside if he continues the arrogant chirping of opponents. Firstly, always did it from 50m away, and secondly, he would have been lucky to touch the ball twice while I was there.
Yep totally agree re:coaches boxes
Fell on my sword and as much as I regret it now I self sabotaged for 2026 from where I was for that exact reason

Watched Wallan last week and they literally had 8/9 lurking around

I thought the same thing Yesterday about the number of coaches. I was speaking to some Strath people after the game apparently not all of them are “coaching” a few of them taking stats.

Andrews put a little of a rocket up them at qtr time after their poor start and the damage was done every time Strath looked to be about to get back in the game Gisborne had all the answers.

Strath had I think it was 5 changes from team vs South and still haven’t seen the Ruckman Hosking or Big Jed Brereton. So there is still plenty of improvement to come I’d think

The Good Friday hype around storm has worn off, and quickly .
Back to reality and now trying to not lose to c/maine.
Gisborne too strong and McKenna taking the piss once again

How come Drew Lloyd didn’t play? Doesn’t seem to be listed for Port Melbourne in the VFL?

Think they will be just fine. Hardest road trip in the BFL and with some of the talent on the sidelines they will only get better.

On a fixturing note. How is it that South Bendigo will have played 5 games by the end of this weekend & only 2 for both Sandhurst and Strath. Surely this is a big advantage for South Bendigo?!

Think you will find Sandhurst and Strath will have played 3 each after this round and that is due to them having their bye already. South have 2 off after this week then a game then another week off.

I guess the other side of the coin is Sandhurst & Strath's injured players have a chance to get back on the park when it matters.

South rd 5 game against Broadford was moved to opening round, and their rd 4 has been moved a week before to this week (anzac day)

BFL wanted to start the season with a blockbuster -Broadford v South 🤦‍♂️

or were they instructed that was to happen to give Broadford every possible leg up ?

Unsure the reason for the 'blockbuster' game, and if it was instigated by the league to do that then that's a mistake, putting the spotlight and pressure on them from their first very game.

Broadford were probably keen to play, just to have footy getting played in their town, no matter what the result.

Broadford wanted to play KFlat first up in Broadford. League approached KFlat and asked, KFlat hierarchy said no thanks, Flat coaches had no idea that Broadford Rd 0 had been proposed as KFlat had said no without talking to coaching group. Flat coaches only found out when approached by a Broadford person who asked why they didn’t want to play that game, Flat coach response was along the lines of what? Had no idea.

The bit that makes sense - giving Broadford a game at home first up, was always going to be a big crowd for the regardless of who they played, or what the result was likely to be.

The bit that doesn’t make sense - playing it as a stand alone game. Would still have been the same crowd, was never going to drag neutrals along from either Bendigo or towns surrounding Broadford.

There were definitely neutral supporters there so the crowd would have been bigger.
