sharpy just didnt make it, not cos of u/19 VCFL cos jack geary and lee coghlan are in both teams!

interesting team be good to see what they end up lining up like
I don't know what Lachlan Sharp is like as a footballer, but it seems odd that someone who is in the VCFL Under-19 side wouldn't be good enough to make the Bendigo FL interleague side. That's just my opinion though.

rumour gatherin pace this week that "Nafan" Brown will play for Square in second half of the season. 2 questions pop up here.

how do the "kids" feel about that since square have said all year it was about givin them a go. Imagine if Nathan pushes a kid (who plays for next to nothing) out of a premiership medal -and how can square afford another high price player when they are strugglin to pay the bills this year

:thumbsu:L sharp is VERY good as a footballer, and very quik too. on anzac weekend he snaffled 7 snag rolls, admittedly agst. the Maine
but he still got 7 ... got me beat how come coghlan and geary r in the bfl senior team why sharp isnt as well

I would have thought that's for the square commitee to worry about Louey not you.

There was a bit of talk about it earlier in the year but i haven't heard the latest roota? I'd say there would be a fair chance of it happening.

I'm led to believe young Hind from Maryborough won the small forward role over Sharpy. Very stiff the young fella!!

if they get Browny to play 2-3 marquee games to attract a bigger gate and create a bit of hype, fair enough. But if a kid was left out of the premiership side for a bloke that rocks up towards the end, doesn't train, no matter what his credentials.... well... hmm.

It's a hard one. If it was me, I'd steer clear. They're streets ahead of the rest and don't need new recruits anyway. Would create a ripple of dis-content that ultimately bubbles beneath the surface to tear apart the fabric of the club. Short term gain, long term pain...

p.s. GOOD LUCK TO THE BFL Interleague SIDE THIS WEEKEND!

I think you will find Square were in a similar situation last year with Darren Walsh and decided to leave him out and play the guys that got the job done during the year. I cant see Square playing Brown in a Grand Final when they are so much ahead of the pack and just no need. Loyd and Rosa still need to push a couple out yet.

And Young Sharpy a bit stiff, but finally spots need to be earn't not just handed out. Healthy stuff!

Spot on about Brown, I think he'd only be available for a handful of games and the club wouldn't want to jeopardise the good morale by having a bloke miss out.

great win over hoodoo side mates told me
benders beat gippsland by less than 2 kicks h. maddern slotted 4 or 5, weeksy missed a few but got 3 and cultman jimmy condos got 1 or 2

prety hectic in last few minutes as the gippy men got to the front I'm told

but our boys with bellie showing the way snatched the Cup

Funny last quarter, Gippsland had plenty of chances to put the locals away, but Bendigo to their credit hung tough and kicked straight (late) when it mattered. Gippsland did most the work in the initial 14-15 minutes and looked like finishing the better, full forward Holt (#20) from Gippsland dropped two marks within 20m in the last 10 mins, Dunne (#6) missed two set shots late and then when the momentum swung again for the last 5-6 minutes it was all Bendigo who run hard and got the ball to dangerous spots forward which paid dividends. Good entertaining game, plenty of slick ball movement and a close finish :thumbsu:

which geary kicked 1 of bendy's last 3 goals which set up the win :D

gippy paper says jack geary .... bendigo addy says shannon geary

 which one was it boys

Richards was very good from memory his player was kept markless and only got 1 goal late which was very lucky. Showing why he is one of the best backman in the league at only 19

def, Shannon. Set shot, he wasnt confident and rushed the kick. He said as much after the game. Good win by the boys despite Gippys inaccuracey. Got off the canvas, Brady Herdman was quiet but took a real Captain grab and converted it in the last. How good is Nathan Bell. Wow! And agree on Darcy Richards Brookman, very good young defender.
Shannon Grant watched the game, saw him having an ale in the Sandhurst rooms post game, lets hope he didnt get carried away.....Oops!

Have it from very good source that D Filo will play this week, despite the article a few weeks back saying otherwise....

the Dragons Den strikes again... enter with caution.

D Filo returns the week they play Kyneton in Kyneton, a nice story there. with the wet weather, it could be a danger game for the Burra. Square and Maryborough might be closer than 5 goals as well.

:thumbsu:ok inter-leag done and dusted, well done to bendigo and lodon valley, bad luck for heathcote d.f.l.
back to regular footie

bfl round 8: flat with harry madden in form to sneak home over hurst. dragons were poor in front of goal v south.
south to beat storm at the q, but young and quick strath with kellan smith in form could push them. stroobants is a gun for the bloods.
kyneton with razor ray and jimmy up front to edge out eaglehwk
square to dump on maryborough. are the 2 rosas ever coming bak for the dogs:confused:; and
gizzy to get home over a disappointing maine. if stroobants is a gun for south, so is somerfield fopr gizzy.

Doc’s Game Previews and Tips for Round 8

40mm of rain early this week and another 30mm due today/tomorrow means there should be some hard slogs this week and will keep the games closer.

Kangaroo Flat v
Sandhurst - 22
Sandhurst have beaten the sides they have expected to beat so far (except for Round 1) and I don’t see how this match will be any different. While they have not managed to beat a top 3 side, they have not been blown out of the water losing all 3 by an average of about 30 points. The equation is simple – if they want to play finals, then beat the teams below and around you. Justin Maddern is tricky to contain in any weather, but I think the Dragons quality midfield of Duescher, Holmes, Coghlan x 2, Summerhayes and Scott have too much class and his supply will be limited. I also think Cozens will have the better of Clohesy in the ruck, giving the Dragons first option.

Golden Square v Maryborough - 65
Great to see Simon Rosa in for his first game. A good dual will be between the two veterans Hawkins and J Bond. Let’s see if Bondy can keep his aggression channelled to the ball, instead of cheekbones. Maryborough started the year on fire but have dropped away in recent weeks. This is an opportunity for them to show they can match it with the best. If they turn up thinking they are no chance, expect a big blowout despite the wet conditions.

Gisborne v Castlemaine - 21
Pretty straight forward here. Great to see Ollie back – he’s a great competitor and a shining light for the Dogs. The disgusting stinking mudheap may keep the scores down but don’t expect anything other than a Gisborne win.

Kyneton v Eaglehawk - 14
Yes, I think this game will be close. Wet weather, some fresh legs in for the Tigers and the confidence they will have after knocking the Burra off at home last year. In saying that, the Johnny Farnham style football farewell tour is alive and well with "D is for Dame Nellie Melba" Filo starting on the pine along with some quality inclusions in Bowe and Gitsham . The Burra have not had the best couple of weeks and should get back on track with a win.

South Bendigo v Storm – 35
Rick has named himself on an extended bench and the wet conditions would suit him, but I don’t think he will line up. Everything is going along beautifully at South and the other inclusions of Daniel Frew and Strange with Ireland and R Connoughton on the bench, the depth is there this week so no need for the coach. The QEO suits the Storm’s style of play but they haven’t won a game there yet (I think?) and don’t expect this game to be any different.

:thumbsdown:Tigers couldn't get the job done even tho Jimmy C. kicked 7 agst. ehawk

storm nearly pinched it against south at the q. bloods got more goals than
strath in last 1/4 by all reports to get home narrowly
square won by huge amount over m'boro. weeksy kicked a bag. 10 or 11 I hear

harry madden got 5 agst hurst but not enuf. roos need tigga downie back. hurst should finish 4th by august

and shocking kicking i hear at the graveyars but gizzy too good for the maine. can imagine what a day it miust have been there with the rain, cold and wind. beatutiful :D
