Good predictions there Doc, although the square will get up with weeksy kicking 10!

If anyone has the time I'd love for the teams to be posted on here, haven't bought the addy yet!

The local rag has a Castlemaine line up in it which might just be speculation as they train tonight.

If it is correct it appears the Pies will be missing Danny Christmas as well as Dave Taylor and Orry Cross which will make it tough if Kyneton have improved as much as suggested.

OI there Norfolk. Doley not only thinks your 'new' boys i'wood will collect the loddon vall. spoon, he doesn't think ur old boys 'square' will win the bfl flag
doley's gone for e'hawk to win the bendigo league flag

tips: my boys kyneton to cream the maine; flat to sneak home over gizzy in closest game of rd. 1; hurst to finish over the top of marybor.; eaglehawk to belt strath storm, not a close one this time as in 2009; and square to reverse results of old at wade street and beat south (how fit is anderson??)

Footy is back, the real stuff starts this weekend and I can't wait...

Tips for Round 1
Square v South Bendigo - 24
Sth can't beat them in finals, but always seem to do well at Country Vet. Worried about Square's injuries for Rd 1 (S Rosa, Bell, C Carter etc), but everyone still expects Square to be top at rd18. To be played on Good Friday, it will be worth the gate entry fee to witness Leigh Davies’ return to Country Vet. Tipping he’ll be sticking to the Bowling Club wing for most of the game, in a vain attempt to ignore the well-rehearsed jibes from the stand.

E/hawk v S'saye - 36
Corresponding game last year, the Storm jumped the Burra by 5 goals. No hype this time around for the league’s newest club. Haven't heard much out of the Storm camp over pre-season. Pilcher may play which will give Hall, Millard first use. Problem is they will have to contend with Lock, Coates, Robins, Jacobs and co. Can’t see anyone on the Storms list capable of stopping the G train. Would have tipped Burra by 80+, but their terrible form in the pre-season should keep it closer.

Gisborne v Kang Flat – 12
Gisborne have lost a heap and gone with youth from the Riddell league while Flat showed in 2009 that they can win at the Graveyard against a stronger outfit. Think they will have too many options for the Dogs, although champions Luke Saunders and Ollie Messaoudi should keep the game close. These 2 teams will be fighting for 5th spot with Maryborough come finals time.

C'maine v Kyneton - 6
Toss of the coin. Head says the Magpies at home, but for the sake / health of the league, it’s time for the Tigers to get up. Kyneton supporters - buy a membership so you can keep players for more than 1 year at a time.

Sandhurst v M'borough - 21
The Dragons have had another massive pre-season and recruited well in areas they needed to improve on such as bigger bodies in the middle and a genuine tap ruckman. Have a huge list of 60 players with up to ten 2009 senior players running around in the 2’s - so depth is no problem. At Princes Park, Fisher has worked wonders with his group. He needs to produce to improve relations between the Magpies and the MCDFL clubs, which has reached tensions of ‘BFL clubs –Bendigo Bombers proportions’. Should be a great game under lights at Queen Lizzy, get along!

Great game comments there, on fisher what part of the relations do you feel he needs to improve. i have seen at the club his will to get the best district players to come in and improve there football every year with out much joy. every year the district sides try and get all there players but now one year players decide to come on board and its his problem? in my view the district teams have a lot to answer for when they try and hold back kids and better players. it works both ways and when players have finished there major league stints do these clubs realise the players will most probaly go back to there district home. also they played bushy in a tiny scrap match and offered rovers a game so the relations are trying to be made better. My thoughts is its always a negative the major league team to all the district sides and that wont ever change. only my thoughts but as i said great comments on this weeks games

eagleborough in trouble with coin 2. hope the boys dont jump ship before clearances close. kyneton by 16 goals. gizzy by 20 points. hurst by 6 goals and strath by 2 points and square by 8 goals

Well I wasn't far off was I? Think he kicked 9! Square smashed South yesterday, was a very, very good performance with Simon Rosa still to come in!

10 minutes into the first qtr, I knew I got this tip wrong. South had no fitness, skills or key position players capable of anything reasonable. Leigh Davies copped a hiding on and off the field. Klein-Bretler is a gun.

South sprayed their kicks so much they should take up paint ball instead of football. Will get better as Hardinge Coburn etc return but definately not top 3 by seasons end. Both Square/South reserves were woeful so depth is questionable. But on the other hand... only round 1 :)

Strath alot smaller and younger then last year.

E/hawk 109 v Strath 46

halfway through the third.

Eaglehawk by 110 points in the end.

Positives for Strath is the Reserves and Under 18's won. Going to be a long year for the seniors as they look small and young this year. But if the Storm stick to the plan that they appear to be going with today they will be a very strong club in 4 or 5 years as there Juniors start coming through and not going to other clubs.

The two Sharp's and Ladson looked good today. I really hope they stick around while the club is built.

24 points down at 1/4,
29 down at 1/2 time
3 points up at 3/4 time

Don't think it ever got out to seven goals. I think it was six goals during the second quarter.

got a feeling it was 41 points at some stage in the second quarter... the character those Kyneton boys showed today is something that hasnt been said at the club in many years... With another 4 or 5 to come into the side next week, the club has a real exciting feeling around it... If anyone seen the scenes in the room after the game when the song was getting sung, it shows what a sucessful club means to this town... I do wanna say but castlemaine were very good yesterday, and believes its unfair for people saying they will be the easy beats for the year........ AND YESSSSSSSSSSS I HAVENT FORGOT CONDOS, HOW GOOD IS THIS BLOKE GOING TO BE FOR THE CLUB..... and dont worry he is not the only gem the club has recruited there are a few....

ohhhhhhhh and Kings Army I havent seen how Gizzy went,, oh sorry yes i did they were flogged.... HAHAAHAHA at Justin Maddern nearly kicking your sides score in the first quarter lol..... DW im not expecting a reply, you only seem to wanna beak off when ur club is sucessfull...

See the tigers paws of leather
booting goals in any weather
we're all mates, we fight together
the mighty yellow and black.

let us strive for Kyneton's honour
land a premiership upon her
never say we're a goner
the mighty yellow and black.

great stuff davis. apart from condos heard the 2 turners liam and mick and zack boyer went well. gotta be a chance agst. v. ordinary south @ the showgrounds this week.

well done to all involved down at tigerland. hopefully this is the start of a new era at kyneton, and will hopefully keep the kyneton bashers at bay.

as for my boys, they were soundly beaten from what i have heard (was out of town for the match). hopefully our boys can rebound in time for next sunday's battle against the slagheads. for those looking to watch a bit of local footy action next sunday, head out to tannery lane !

Had it not been for liam turner, kyneton would of been down by prob 10 -11 goals at half time.... Mick Turner 2nd half was outstanding...... And credit has to be given to young vice captain Zach boyer who only turned 20 last week, his hardness at the contest can bulid clubs.... he also, no exagration would of had in excess of 30 possies i believe,, a very good day for the club in general with the a res netballers getting up also..

I think it is the start of making a really good BFL team, there could be a few years of pain about to happen, but you could really see the potential on Saturday even though we were flogged:cool:

You were right on the ball Doc. Well done to Kyneton & Maryborough in particular.

In respect of our beloved Dragons I noticed Nick Arthur, Mark Borchard, Jake Wilkinson, Ben Duscher, Mark Cornish (almost a complete backline by themselves) and Matt Thorton didn't line up Saturday night. Were they all injured/unavailable?

Can you (or anyone else close to the club) tell us when we can expect to see these guys back on the park.

Thats so funny I don't know where to start? Maine were pus last year and going backwards in 2010. All you celebrated yesterday was that you may finish 2nd last instead of another spoon. The flat are 20 goals better than the Maine. 2 point win! Go Tigers!

"Paws of Leather" that maybe why your considered one of the worst football teams in country Vic. A few average players from lower leagues that will take the cash and leave after 1 year. "Paws of Cash" is more of a reality. Post after every game - this will make your year even longer.

"Castlemaine were very good" - Bhwaaaaaaaa. GOLD!!! You would not know what "very good" has looked like for 10 years.

M Borch - knee, 2-3 weeks
J Wilkinson - back next week
M Cornish - back next week
M Thornton - back next week
B Duscher - unknown?
N Arthur - rather not say

that's another 6 walk up starts that missed out on Sat night so our full strength side will be hard to beat. But Maryborough were impressive, they will beat a few good sides this year, especially at home.

I have no problem with it.

He is gorrrnne and will not be at Sandhurst this year unless they can pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Can't place the team but I know he has agreed to play with a club up near Swan Hill, either Woorinen or Swan Hill itself me thinks.

dont give him ammo , ilc, although u got up this week, playing the bulldogs might prove to be a bit more difficult. I noticed that the kyneton faithfull have already started a facebook page called CONDOS = KYNETON GOD, well if thats not a way too jinx a season ill go hee. As Wendell Sailor says, There is no I in team, but there is 5 in individual brilliance. Keep a lid on it tigers. For now.

GOOD on u for being so loyal LionBear but I must have been at another game
The Storm was flogged --- belted --- annihilated --- to the tune of 110 points. That's 18 (eighteen) goals.
Now, take your Storm hat off and think. How many Strath players would Eaglehawk want? Three maybe: Hollywood Hall, Ladson, perhaps Sharp and maybe Smythe.
That's it.

As I said, good on u for being loyal. But wearing rose-coloured glasses isn't always a good look. Get your boys to try manning up a bit this week against Sandhurst and the week after versus Maryborough.
