Jeez it's going to be a quality match-up this week in the Golden Square - Eaglehawk match.

Shame both teams won't be going in undefeated but full credit to South last week, not many had them penciled in for that win.

Reckon Square might just be a bit good for the boys from Canterbury Park this time; Lock is a huge out, Herdy isn't quite 100% and the supply to Weeksy has just been too damn good!

18 points.

Meow!

Have you guys ever actually surveyed your listeners (assuming you have any) and asked if they are actually want to hear local footy of a night?

I would have thought that most of your 'listeners' would prefer you to be playing music rather than having half cocked amateurs who lets face it are largely there to stroke their own egos. As a BFL player I also think it is very ordinary that you have jumped in when CCC/Fresh have been doing it for years. I would like to see the BFL say Fresh has first call and if 3BO wants to do a different game then fine, not double up.

You can get on your high horse as much as you like about professionalism but the fact is the Fresh dedicate many hours of airtime to local footy and have for a very long time. You guys jump in and start your token after game show which again is more of an ego stroke for a bunch of AFL media expert wannabes. Maybe that is why their ads are touching a nerve?

And you say that 3BO is a commercial station and can't do games because of other reasons. That's fine but don't try and have your cake and eat it too. The listeners already have some ordinary commentators to hear, I don't think they would really value the option of choosing another set of ordinary commentators doing the same game.

And before you say it I have no connection to the Fresh, but I must say it is great now they are on air full time with a signal that is strong to be able to listen to a station where the DJ's aren't full of their own sense of importance and the music has some variety. Maybe 3BO is getting touchy because they finally have some real competition and they are starting to take a hit in audience numbers?

Bendigo Magazine did a poll of best(well most popular) radio stations in 2008 which was the last time a poll of note was done and Star fm was 1 Fresh 2 and BO 3. Fresh was only part time then to, which may have lead BO to refocus there energy locally.

For the last time, I am not Travis Fitzgibbon, Jock Clark, Zac Harvey or Brian Coghlan. I listen to both stations and unfortunately started this circle when I asked about media on this forum and a local broadcaster wouldnt let it go.....
I call in Melbourne and have worked with both Stations involved, thats it!
If your are calling him Travvy, thats plain odd, or you are a Fresh guy, tho you claim u arent!:)

Agree maineman....what a disgrace!
From 4 different people I spoke to who saw the incident on Saturday (3 of which were Sth Bendigo reserves players or supporters) they all agreed there was nothing in it at all.
Even Connaughton said contact was minor?!
Now, we have the biggest game of the year this weekend (outside the GF) a showcase for the BFL, and its been robbed of a major drawcard in one of the key players for the Burra!
Its players word against umpires...and its an arguament the player is never going to win.
So your right maineman, why bother? Just send the club an email and tell them how long there player will be suspended...and stop wasting peoples time.
Or...heres an idea! Stop rubbing out players when the incident is minor, nobody gets hurt, and the player struck/hit etc says theres nothing or little in it! The yellow card and 15 minutes off the field should be punishment enough!

It seems to be a common theme though in various leagues. I had a friend of mine, a gun ruck rover in the Murray League miss a premiership after being suspended for 2 weeks for striking. The "victim" didnt feel the contact and only one umpire gave evidence and neither player was called to appear....
lucky for him they won the next 2!

Hows Ryan Eastman been going out Strath this year? Been getting a kick. Has been injured I think unsure if he is back playing....

Easty has been going well of late. Early on there was talk of him not playing this year coz of a knee op. I think he has played all bar 1 match in seniors this year and booted a cpl against Castlemaine and the Flat a few weeks ago. Has been going well, and considering the loss of Cam Ross, will say that he will be featuring more in the seniors this season.

Doc’s Game Previews and Tips for Round 7

Strathfieldsaye v Kyneton – 30. See Richmond has already chucked in a clearance to go back to Riddell league, along with Agius and Turner.
Castlemaine v Kangaroo Flat – 43. Should be a no-brainer?
Eaglehawk v Golden Square – 52. We will get to see just how far ahead of the pack the Bulldogs are. Hope Rosa plays.
Maryborough v Gisborne – 62. Should be a given for the Pies. Need to win well to repair their percentage.
South Bendigo v Sandhurst – 15. Have to win to gain any credibility as a serious top 3 side. Missing Walsh, Fitzgerald which is a shame.

Richmond has had more clearances in the last two years, than he has kicks

Good to hear. I remember when he was a tiny whippet with a bowl cut thin as a rake! He's filled out now and should be playing good footy. I must go out and watch him one afternoon

I don't think it is appropriate for you making comments like that zakster, especially when you have a vested interest in the "local you know". Self promotion of your associated station is one thing, but when you start bagging the other station then thats drawing the line a bit too much. judging by the time that you posted this blog, maybe you had one too many "sherberts" for the night ? which may explains why you have let your guard down....

Can Oliver be CEO while at the same time campaigning for a new job as a politician for the next 6 months? Surely he cannot do justice to the job while running around kissing babies.

He has announced that he is after a new job so IMO he should go on unpaid leave until he gets the job as a polly and resigns or doesn't get it and comes back.

I have no vested interest in this radio crap talk. All i can say is the more media coverage for the league the better. i still love the fresh, they were the first to give the local footy a go so i can't fault them. no matter what people think of jock he's a very good local caller. Love hearing B Walsh as well.

He will continue to be paid by the Football leagues and use the services such as phone and car while he is running for the Nationals.

He is able to do this because his mate who is also in the National party.

This will not affect the job he currently paid to do, because he has achieved very little as the CEO.

ha ha! as Homer Simpson once said, "It's funny 'cos it's true!"

Square look like this year is a foregone conclusion, holes appearing in the Burra armour, south getting a run on, maddern kicks 12 against his home town side and Hurst just can't seem to take the next step

Gisborne gone for all money , broke, very poor support from the local community at home games and a very very poor off season recruiting wise, due to the fact that no one wants to play their when they no that they will be hard pressed recieving their promised match payments.
Add to that the two biggest tossers on bigfooty kings army and bearsboy claim to also support gisborne, that in itself would be enough to turn anyone away from the club.
A question for you kings army will you be attending the kyneton v gisborne clash at the showgrounds this year ?
No chance im guessing, but if you do could you let us no in advance as i would dearly like to see you stand amongst the kyneton faithfull

Is it true that at the conclusion of the Interleague match last year, the coach and CEO promised that all players that played that day against Ballarat would be selected if available to represent the BFL in 2010.

It will be interesting to see if they keep their word.

yes Bob, your boys almost got over the line last weekend against my mob, in what was a spirited display by the Tigers. After trailing by 6 goals at qtr time, your boys showed plenty of heart and actually hit the front with 3 minutes to go when razor snagged his 7th for the match. fortunately for my boys they didn't drop their heads like the did the week before, and showed great resolve to kick 2 late goals to pinch the game, in what was a highly entertaining match. It was just unfortunate that there had to be a loser.

In regards to Lachy Sharp, he isn't playing BFNL interleague this weekend as he has been selected to represent the VCFL at U19 level. Sharpy is having another stellar season, and has been justly rewarded through his selection to the U19 team. Not sure on Darcy Richards.
