You cannot make up something and call it a fact. It is your opinion but not a fact!

Bris in 2003 lost 7 games and had a draw - that is a fact. The Pies this year will get no where near 7 losses - my opinion. They are 5/1 to go through un-defeated!! I would take this Collingwood side over any side I have seen in the last 20 years. If they lose more than 4 games this year I will admit I am incorrect. Bris at their best lost 5 in the year - fact!

What a stupid comment. The game has changed so much in 5-10 years.. Players skills, conditioning, fitness as well as the gameplans of Collingwood 2010 would beat Lions of 2001-2004 more often than not I think.

There isnt much between the three but I think Cats 07 > Pies 2010 > Lions 01-03 but christ it would be an awesome tri-series to see.
 
If Justin Maddern doesn't get a game with the Bombers next week their selection process is an absolute farce and the 'Bendigo' should be removed from 'Bendigo Bombers'.

Would be good to watch but i'd still bet a fortnights pay Brisbane would win it:D
 
Perhaps it is for another forum, but one might think 3 flags in a row followed by a runner-up would put these arguments to bed for another couple of years at least.

Very impressed with the hospitality at Gardiner Reserve on the weekend. Locals mostly welcoming, respectful & friendly senior coach, great spread upstairs at 1/2 time and genuine concern & assistance from home trainers when big Chaddy went down.

Only disappointing note was the bloke in the reserves who king hit the smallest player on the field, stuffing up his jaw and ending his career as well. That's two we lose for good in one day. Hope this cowardly thug realises that without this loyal club servant and 3 others well beyond their days - along with 4 kids doubling-up from the U/18's - he wouldn't have had a team to play (and throw his arms around) against on the weekend. Perhaps if he makes the trip over for the return match and it turns out to be a complete waste of petrol for him, he can use the time to reconsider his motivation for playing football.
 
Good win by the young Storm brigade on the weekend over the highly respected Bloods. Pleasing to see when South challenged late in the last quarter that the boys responded with 3 quick replies, a thing that the side couldn't do last year against the same opponents.

Matty Ladson had another polished game and along with Harry Maddern, must be up for consideration in the Bendigo Bombers lineup.
 
Made the journey down to Gisborne on Saturday to see a very good contest. At quarter time, the Dogs looked more polished against a Maryborough side lacking a couple of guns. But by half-time the game took a complete reversal. The Pies played exceptional footy to lead by 31 points late in the second quarter, only for Gisborne to goal on the HT siren.

I was thinking at the break that Maryborough would continue on with the job, but to Gisborne's credit (they were missing a lot of gun players) they just kept plugging away. Saunders went back to one-on-one footy and the Dogs took back control of the contest.

With Saunders, Belcher, Messoudi, Summerfield, Barham and Power still to come back into the side, expect Gisborne to be thereabouts in September. I'm hearing Saunders has a much worse injury than a broken finger. Bad collarbone, I was told on Saturday.

Also, I must acknowledge an umpire's performance. A man in white blew his whistle late in the game for a kick-out infringement. Rod Sharp had clearly walked the ball out of the goalsquare before kicking it. The only problem is, Sharp kicked the ball to himself first (the umpire obviously didn't notice). Of course, Sharp pleaded his innocence. To the ump's credit, he asked the goal umpire and had his mistake confirmed. Rather than be pig-headed, he allowed Sharp to take the kick-in again. We all make mistakes and the ump handled it brilliantly.
 
Don't know about "brilliantly", but in the end if you say he made the right call, that's perhaps his saving grace.

Initially, not only did he call Sharp for stepping over the line, but immediately awarded a 50m penalty when Gisborne started abusing him (rightly or wrongly). How you get a 50m penatly from a ball-up is anyone's guess, but then to see the ball back in Sharp's hands for another go was completely bewildering. I'm glad someone could fathom what had occurred and thnks it was a good call.

How far is your "journey" down to Gisborne, Matt? From the top of the hill on the edge of town!?!

I'm smack bang in the middle of bendigo. Five years ago I was a romsey resident. That's the closest I've come to living near gisborne.

For a bloke that hates the Gisborne Football Club and has bagged for years on this forum it is very funny that you are now forced to watch them play. End of the day you will reap what you sow.

I actually volunteered to cover the Gisborne game. Quite a few former RDFL players I like to see go around. Plus, the Dogs have always played a good brand and I knew it would be a good contest with so many top-line players out of the side.

Interesting call... obviously you have been to enough Bombers games to make this the comment.

Justin is a great BFL player, but is he a great or even good VFL player?

Pretty hard forward line to break into, the Bombers have the VFL's leading 2010 goal kicker in Matt Little as well as Tony Dickson who has been on fire, then you have the Essendon forward players who are not playing key positions above these 2 guys.

No doubt he will get his go, but why this week?

Against quality opposition last week in Casey, Matthew Little (and Tony Dickson for that matter) kicked a whole 2 goals.

Why this week for Maddern? - Essendon have been hit by injuries and based on his consistent outstanding form he, more than anyone else, deserves to be picked.

Does the "Bendigo" in Bendigo Bombers have any significance anyway it appears to have been a marketing exercise which appears to have been unsucceessful.How far into the future will the Bendigo Bombers exist in their current form?

Thought this website was supposed to be a forum, whereby people discussed issues relevant to the subject topic, instead a grab of website self promotion (commonly known as advertising !). Where are the mods to patrol this ???
 
I'm not in the business of promoting that website, it's certainly not self-promotion given it's Fairfax. That's a match report on a Bendigo FL game - relevant to this forum surely given Gisborne is one of the most discussed teams on here too.

These updates are put on a lot of the leagues threads. I think they are good as I do not have to search for reports on the weekend games.

If you don't want to read them - don't click on the link.

Just wondering why a couple of recruits are playing hdfl from huntly and keep there team in the game (well sort of) every week and are not playing BFL? I think one is a strong midfielder who just dominate sand the other a beautiful skilled half -back flanker. Playing in such a shit team and standing out every week. Just wondering why are they not playing BFL?
