Port Melbourne 4.4 4.11 9.12 15.14 (104)
Bendigo Bombers 3.0 5.4 8.7 9.10 (64)

The bad was Skippy going down with a knee injury along with Cole and Hislop being reported.

Gumbleton - ordinary day out. Was well beaten all day and got caught behind too often. Dropped i dont know how many marks. The worst game he has played so far.

Campo -Steady is the best i could describe it. He did kick long for a change when he got the footy and was reasonable in the first half. In the second half he seemed to go back to his old tricks . Lazy efforts , not chasing and looking for easy footy.

Jetta -The invisable man. Did nothing and didnt come back on after half time so he must have picked up an injury.

Rama -Didnt do much and failed to finish the game. Didnt see what his injury was.

Cole -The only plus was he got more of the footy than last week. Too bad his disposal was terrible and put in a few half arsed efforts in marking contest's.Was reported in the last quarter.

Lee -His defence was ok but didnt have much of an impact on the game.

Hislop- Played half back. Was quiet early but got into the game as it went on. Was pretty solid over all. Got reported in the last quarter for a front on bump. May be in trouble as his arm came up late and made contact to the head.

Lonergan -Was our best in the first half but copped a knock to the goolies at the start of the third quarter and that seemed to finish his day. Tried hard in the last and did a few good things but wasnt as effective. Kicked a couple of goals.

Reimers-Did a few nice things but a bit of a quiet day.

Hocking-- Didnt really stand out but was solid all day. Put on a few good tackles and goes in hard all day.

Houli -One of our best. Tried hard all day and was busy at the contests and as a link man. Very good game.

Johnson -Played a steady game. Got a bit of the footy but wasted it a fair bit at times. He played ok but i would have liked to see a bit more.

Danny Charters and Dean Dick played in the seconds. Danny started in defence and beat his man but wasnt really in the game until he went into the ruck after half time. Went ok around the ground. Dean played the first 15 minutes of each quarter and got through ok and had a reasonable game. Looked a bit tired in the last quarter when he wasnt doing much.

Lonergans efforts before half time would have seen him seriously looked at for a senior birth and Houli would have done his chances no harm. Campo didnt do enough and i thought JJ was still a little short of what he needed to be.

Cheers for that mate, Im actually starting to worry about Lee a bit. While he seems to be ok at stopping his opponent he never wins any of it himself. Hopefully JJ and Campo arent rushed in if they aren't ready.

Lee has missed a lot of footy through injury as well as missing large chunks of pre-season training. He's a 2008 prospect in terms of his value to the senior side, this year he just needs to string some games together in the VFL.

No rush.

I can't believe a few people are questioning Gumby's value on B'Blitz after witnessing todays game...Everybody has a shocker, especially 18 year old CHF's. Jetta also had a poor game but that means nothing as he has the talent , his body just needs to catch up. Leroy had bad OP as a junior and it's a softly, softly approach with him at the minute.

The delivery to Gumby was awful at best. He tried hard, never stopped running but it just wasnt suited to him today.

Johnson got a bit of it, terrible disposal at times and looked like he needs another run

Campo I watched quite closely. He was in great positions most of the day but the guys couldnt find him or didnt see him. Looks slow but Im prepared to say that with more skilled players around him will be better. Admittedly did chase the easy ball sometimes.

Houli was our best by far I thought. Has footy smarts, strong body, quick and makes "generally" good decisions. Could have easily kicked 4 but sprayed a few.

Cloke.....Hmmm.....Big, great overhead today, never stopped trying. He will certainly get an AFL gig again. Goes in hard

Cole...found the pill pretty well although his disposal let him down. Never stopped trying and at least went for the footy on the ground.

Jetta unseen

Hislop reported...was a brilliant hit I thought...!!!

Lee....average.....

Rama had a quiet one. Did a Few good things but limped off in the 3rd.

I love him for his toughness, is he safe? I'm hoping he gets a game for Essendon this week. :thumbsu:

He was our best last week too. With Bradley, Dyson and Bolton sure to go Houli should be a big chance to come in to the team.

Hille, Welsh, JJ and Lovett-Murray may say otherwise... But I think we should drop Slattery too and make 4 changes. (Leave out JJ or Lovett-Murray).

Is Houli ahead of Sloppy by a lot? I've heard good things from both.

Horror afternoon for Bendigo
Sunday, 29 April 2007
It wasn't a great day for the Bendigo Bombers yesterday. Not only did they get beaten by Port Melbourne but they suffered significant injuries and also have two players on report. Bendigo were soundly beaten going down by 40-points and lost Adam Ramanauskas (groin), Haydn Skipworth (patella tendon), Leroy Jetta (groin) and Justin Maddern (concussion).

The final score was Port Melbourne 15.14 (104) v Bendigo 9.10 (64). Goals for Bendigo - Lonergan 2, Rosa, Riemers, Maddern, Plummer, Houli, Jolley, Atkinson.

Skipworth is the most serious of the injuries and he is out for the season with a snapped patella tendon. He was entering hospital today to have the injury repaired. It was a devastating blow for the former Adelaide midfielder who was desperate to earn himself another crack at AFL football.

The news only got worse with youngster Tom Hislop reported for charging. He missed the first game of the season after being suspended for striking during the practice match series. Richard Cole was also reported for unduly rough play.

On a positive note Bachar Houli played his best game of the season finishing with 31 possessions playing in the midfield. Jason Johnson and Scott Camporeale both got plenty of the ball and will be pushing for senior selection.

What are you doing with Bendigo, Knights? :(

So we lost, as long as the kids get meaningful game time and show some improvement during the year then i couldnt care less if bendigo don't win again this season.

Bring back the reserves.

What are you doing with Bendigo, Knights? :(

Actually i would say he is doing his role well. Most of the young kids are playing half decent footy.
As for sunday we where in the game until the injuries started to mount. Hard to win with 17 fit players left.

As long as knights is bringing the players on thats all we need.

Thanks for all the reports on the bendigo side and in particular how the essendon boys are travelling, helps out those that didnt do with proper reports which you dont get in the papers.

Keep up the good work :thumbsu: :)

Hey guy,
I wanted to know if Jarrod Atkinson went alright on the weekend, and if anyone thinks he's got potential????

Looked a little nervous and made a couple of mistakes but he looked like he could make a handy VFL player. Not sure if he has as far as AFL goes. His skills are pretty good.
