Sandringham: Sautner 5 Gallagher 3 Summers 2 Pickett 2 Jamar 2 Valenti 2 Johnson Carroll Bizzell Dunn
Bendigo Bombers: Reimers 3 Lonergan 3 Carter 3 Bolton 2 Weeks 2 Atkinson

BEST:
Sandringham: Summers Bode Gallagher Pickett Carroll Poyas
Bendigo Bombers: Johns Heffernan Lonergan Carter Reimers Johnson

REPORTED PLAYERS:
Sandringham: D. Gallagher (Sandringham) for charging D. Dick (Bendigo Bombers)in the 2nd quarter.
Bendigo Bombers: Nil

Courtney Johns - Looked pretty good most of the day. he has to concentrate on not letting his man get an early lead on him but overall he was very good. Punched the ball away well and took some good grabs. He also provided a bit of run from defence when needed. Copped a wack in the nose and had to go off for a while and was pretty much out of petrol by the end of the game.

Mark Bolton - Once again battled hard and presented a good target when he was up forward. Kicked a couple of goals. One of our better players. Still finds a way to make the easy look hard at times including dropping marks he should take.

Chris Heffernan - Reasonably steady game today. Didnt butcher the ball too much. Still has a bad habit of stopping when he gets the footy or overusing the handball but he was pretty good.

Sam Lonergan - Probably his best game this year. Kicked 3 goals and really gave us a lift from half forward. When he went into the middle he was pretty good as well. Was a bit quiet in the third quarter but finished the game strongly.

Kyle Reimers - A bit quiet in the first half but exploded out of the blocks in the third term with plenty of run and a couple of goals. faded out of the game again in the last quarter but it was a pretty good game considering he has missed a couple of weeks.

Heath Hocking - Slower start today and he mucked up his first couple of handballs. Didnt have much influence in the first quarter. His second and third quarters were very good . He got a fair bit of the footy and was very good getting it inside 50. Had 23 possessions to 3/4 time and was leading the clearances. Played the last quarter in defence on Lynden Dunn. He didnt get much of the footy but held Dunn to 2 possesions. His goal kicking skills have deserted him.

Dean Dick - Flash's in and out of the game and does a lot of brilliant stuff but also spends a lot of the day jogging around watching. Not sure if it shows up on TV but it is sure noticable watching it at the ground. At his best he was damaging. Chased a few blokes down and took some good grabs up forward. is generally creative with his hands but he did give it up a couple of times by hand which cost us goals.

Danny Chartres - Had a tough job relieving Plummer in the ruck against Jamar and Johnson. still provided some good run. steady game.

Bachar Houli - Got plenty of it in the furst 3/4 but wasted a few kicks. He also handballs too much on occasions and gets his team mates in trouble. He was very good at getting the footy and creating play. Had several excellent one precenters that resulted in goals for us. As has been the case in recent games he ran out of puff in the last quarter. One of our better players.

Jason Johnson - Found plenty of the footy but butchered the ball a bit. as usual he tried hard and was one of the few that where running the game out in the last quarter.

Of the Bendigo listed players Cloke was once again very good. Rosa got plenty of it but had his usual turnovers. Jolley battled to contain Poyas.

Here are my thoughts on what I say yesterday :

Houli - Looked a class above and should be a quality AFL player in the next few years. Needs to work a little bit on hardness at the ball and should take on a few more players but signs are very very good.

Lonergan - Every time I see this kid I think he can play. Had a really good game and another that looked like he could play AFL. I would love to see him get a game or two in the seniors if form permits. Definitely a keeper.

Heff - I thought he had a pretty good game and was the only other player out there that I though could play seniors this year and give us something.

JJ - Got plenty of it but looked slow. I think it might be the end.

Johns - Was quite good but in saying that I thought is mobility and awareness was pretty poor. At AFL level he would get found out. Looks too big and cumbersome for a CHB role.

Reimers - Like the look of this kid. Showed a lot of promising signs. Good pace and kid. Needs to find more of it. I think he'll be one that will start to make his mark late in the third year or 4th.

Hocking - Nothing I saw from him again made me think he could play AFL. Fumbled a crucial one when we should have got a goal and missed a few targets.

Bolton - Usual Bolton. Put a few teammates under pressure and tried his guts out. Just a good average VFL footballer.

Dick - Has some talent but looked unfit and lazy. Doubt he'll ever get the fitness and desire to compete at the top level.

Cloke - Looked a class above out there and just knew what to do. Could still play a role at AFL level.

Rosa - Disposal was diabolical. I reckon he cost the team about 5 goals.

Flaherty - Really liked the look of him. Conceded 5 goals but 2 were really soft frees. Was always there on the lead to get his hand on the ball. Would like to know what his pace is like - whether it is good enough to keep up with the AFL forwards.

Chartres - Was ok but doesn't have the tools to play AFL.

He was named in the side.
No he wasn't. He won't play either.

Houli was very good yesterday but he needs to have more confidence in himself. Tends to handball way too much which suprises me has he is a pretty reliable kick. Had 28 touches, 11 in the first quarter. Wouldn't be far from getting a game next week.

Reimers- Ver very exciting young talent, rekon he might make his debut soon as well.

Lonergan- played well, that first mark was sensational. Wedged between 2 Sandringham players and plucked a great mark. 24 touches and 3 goals, another who might get a game soon.

JJ- Got 30 + possies but still looks very slow even at VFL level.

Hocking- Probably not one of his best games but still collected 23 possies. Will debut by years end imo.

I noticed Dempsey didnt play Ant, did he play in the reserves or not at all?
spoke to one of the trainers and he said that he hadn't fullt recovered from his injury

Bradley didnt play maybe a late inclusion today
the same trainer told me that kepler was "crook"
and someone on bb said that that peter jackson said that he isn't playing today.

Oh yes and i stand by my earlier calls to get Flaherty. We should seriously look at him even if only for a rookie spot. Still has plenty of scope for improvement, he's only been playing for 3 years and is 19.

It was great to see some of our young guys lonergan, reimers, houli, johns etc. playing well in their positions. I think that Dean Dick has the ability and pace to play at the top level. Also Johns should get a game next week he is fast can take a mark and is in our best 22 imo.

i said to the trainer, "did dempsey play in the reserves?
"no, he's injured"

so by that it doesn't sound good, but ant & co said that he looked fine at training so they were probably just being cautious

As do i, he looked very impressive yesterday and i'll be very suprised if he doesn't get picked up at the end of the year. I wouldn't mind taking him with a 4th rounder or something around there, he looks very good. Sautner only kicked 1 good goal on him yesterday, the other 4 were cheap; Sautner cherry picked one in the goal square that Flaherty had no control over, Plummer the idiot ran into Flaherty whilst he was trying to stop Sautner on the lead, whist the other 2 were cheap free kicks, one was in the back when he didn't fall into his back and the other was when JJ interfered with the contest after Flaherty spoiled.

The players that stood out to me;

Bachar Houli.
Ball magnet, worked hard for the ball and disposed of it very well.

Dean Dick.
Hit targets and also disposed of it very well.

Courtney Johns.
Played well down back.

Heath Hocking.
Hit targets played well.

Jason Johnson.
Got a lot of the ball used it pretty well.
