Benny Graham has been offered a 7M/7year contract with Jets. Apparently , unlike Basketball and Baseball Gridiron contracts doesnt lock him in for 7 years of payment, which to me sound quite weird but its why their players get high upfront payments. Anyway sound like for him and his family at least hes made the right choice. I know there was quite few harsh feeling about him leaving but I say remember he was a Captain and a B&F winner and hung in when other left us for dead.
Good Luck to him although its sound like doesnt need it.

Not a bad salary for a guy who just has to kick a ball as far as he can a few times a game :)
Hypothetically he took the contract of $7M over seven years, and he averaged the same number of punts per year as he did this year, this contract works out to be almost $15,000 per punt.

ah JP. You've always got a positive spin on things
If Graham had left 3 years earlier he would have been remembered as one of our finest tall defenders of all time. The last 3 years playing as a key forward I think tainted his career. Personally I used the love the guy, but he did go missing a lot late in his career and there were many games that he only got 3 or 4 kicks.

The other thing that went against Benny and his reputation was the salary cap rule where you have to pay a minimum of 92%. We had a very ordinary team in 98-99-00-01 and Benny was probably our best performed so he had to be paid the most. He was never ever worth the money that he "supposedly" got paid. But they had to "give" it to somebody. Then once you are paid a certain amount, you never ever want to accept any less.

Good luck to Benny, he's doing us all proud. Mind due had he remained with us last season, with Ottens as well we would have really had a good chance of winning the flag last season

I do not think we would have gone after Ottens if Graham had stayed, we would have been waaay to tall. Unless Playfair was kicked out the team.. think of the possibilities! Graham at CHF, Ottens Deep! wow! But its al done and dusted, Good luck to Graham in his NFL career and also Otto for next year!

Yeah just imagine what would have happened, but Geelong were looking for another big forward before Benny left, so it was always a possibility that Ottens and Benny could have played together

Ben Graham had still not decided about the NFL when Ottens was recruited to the club. They were team mates for 2 weeks in October !!!

Still just imagine this forward line

HFF: G.ABLETT CHF: B.GRAHAM HFF: P.CHAPMAN

FP: S.JOHNSON FF: B.OTTENS FP: K.KINGSLEY

just imagine what it would have been like, it would have been raining goals
