Agree FIGJAM. I saw it the other night too. Ed really does handle himself well although I did get a slight sense of being over politically correct almost but not quite to the point of being condescending. It's a tough balancing act though just as it would be if it was an ethnic or other discriminatory type issue. Not sure what someone like Tess thinks of that observation - perhaps I am wrong.

I though at the end that the interviewer probably had another half a dozen questions but Ed hogged all the time and just kept talking. I also liked how he worked the sponsors into the exposure opportunity too. He really is the master. Do the right thing but never forget who pays the bills.

As for content, I liked what he said our club should represent. He made some good points about our club from long ago.

I have always said that Eddie’s greatest achievement was/is to modernise and update Collingwood while putting the Collingwood back into Collingwood.

so many calls could be made but instead I'll make a serious post.

If eddie wants to put Collingwood back into Collingwood Fight Ch 9 to show games live, fight the AFl over GF tickets.

Don't critise the members who want games shown live and more GF tickets like a quick tempered swyane.

Now for a "troll" he did put the Collingwood back into Collingwood before you disgraced yourselves by finshing last now you disgrace yourselfs on GF day like you forfathers before you, and the true tradition of your club.

Not surprisingly you have no idea what I am talking about. What does televising games have to do with being Collingwood? That aside, I don't favour live telecasts of local games at all. I fear the game becoming a TV sport like RL. Unlike RL our game can't be captured on a TV screen because the important action covers too much territory. None of that has anything to do with what Collingwood used to represent, what it came to represent and what it now represents except that as always it provides an opportunity for irrelevant criticism.

Eddie has no responsibility to broadcast Collingwood games as the Collingwood president let alone any other games. As a ch.9 presenter he has a responsibility to his employer - which is channel 9 of course. As a footy supporter he owes you absolutely nothing at all.

GF tickets are another matter. Every year clubs call for more tickets and better allocations. I am not sure what Eddie can do but I'd be happy for him to take the issue public and create a bit more public pressure. The reality is though that commercial interests will be looked after and AFL members will continue to get tickets that competing club members should get. The AFL will not give up the money they make from competing with the clubs for members and the poorer clubs won’t fight for change because they need the AFL dividend and they don't have members missing out in the sort of numbers that the big clubs do. Now what has your president done for your members as far as getting a better ticket deal for clubs?

Ah words of sorrow from a club on the slide. It feels good to be a club on the up you know.

Now what ever happened to the team of the century that would win flag after flag that you were supposed to have a few years back?

I personally have never felt uncomfortable in Collingwood circles, whether it be at Vic Park out on the terraces watching training and talking to the players, at the Cricketers, at The MCG, within the walls of Vic Park the social club or the CFC admin offices. I know during last years Club Nights the PMs were made very welcome by everyone including all the Players.
On our Cricketers expierences we gather and greet each other as we would in Private, why? Because we are sharing a drink before a game with our family.

I though at the end that the interviewer probably had another half a dozen questions but Ed hogged all the time and just kept talking. I also liked how he worked the sponsors into the exposure opportunity too. He really is the master. Do the right thing but never forget who pays the bills.
The bloke interviewing Ed was the bloke quoted as a Pink Magpie when the shoot hit the fan about Molly Meldrums Roast. The PMs main man was in the wings watching every second BTW, guess who set the interview up.

I would like us(the PMs) to be more involved in what Ed spoke about in getting disadvantaged groups involved at CFC. Personally I doubt many of the people suffering from Aids would have seen a Footy Game, I feel this is were a group like the Pink Magpies can truely shine.

Tess why would you think not many AIDS sufferers have seen a footy game? Given the various sources or risk groups and the diverse range of people suffering from AIDS I would think perhaps only the homosexual community would be under represented as football fans as a generalisation. That may seem a bit of a stereotype based comment but it would hold true IMO. Anyway, I would think plenty of AIDS sufferers would have been to the footy both before and since they contracted AIDS. Nevertheless as their illness or difficulties progressed I am sure it would become more difficult. Either way, getting more of them to the footy can only be good for them, football and if done via the PM's Collingwood.

I was meaning people in the ward at the Alfred not so much living with Aids, but suffereing from the effects of this disease. As I say that it also occurs to me that there are many living with the disease and living a full and fulfilling life.

I meant those that would need people as carers in order to attend a Game of Football, not those that havent been adversly affected from the effects of this disease.

Nice try but we just played in 2 grand finals while rebuilding. We never used rebuildinn as an excuse at all. We drafted badly throughout the 90's and we lost our way. We were crap and we ended up the worst team in the cpmp. Then we started again on and off the field and rose up the ladder in both regards. We even passed essendon along the way in both regards. No excuses except our own incompetance for the late 90's. We're over it.

OK fair enough. Good luck.

WHY Please.

ask the 30,000 Pies fans who couldn't get in because its sold out and deserve to see it live.

CH 7 would have put it live and had Ch 7 still had the footy Eddie would never have shut up had it not been put live.

Like when? Ch. 7 had the rights for decades. Did Eddie complain then when they didn't telecast live?

In any case what does 7 have to do with it? You're talking about what 7 would do v 9. How does relate to what Eddie, an employee of Packer, should or could do?

Please u missed the point

You can't tell me the 50,000 pies and bomber fans who couldn't get in were happy to watch Burke's Backyard when the footy was on. Its not like they'd lose any money the game should have been live.

Dunno ch 7 did put games live once they were sold out.

The Hypocrite did complain that Ch 7 didn't have fixed camera's at every ground

Rember Eddie telling us how easy and cheap to put camera's on both wings and behind the goals.

Then his station misses numerous fights off play during the season.

The New South Victorian is cutting and pasting his posts from last year to save time.

He retrospectively looked like an idiot at the end of last year and will retrospectively look like an idiot at the end of season 2004!
