What does everyone think will be the biggest contest between an Eagles player and someone from the opposition? Here are my thoughts up to Round 15:

Rd 1 vs Port Adelaide
Michael Gardiner vs Matthew Primus

Rd 2 vs Hawthorn
Daniel Chick vs Shane Crawford

Rd 3 vs St Kilda
Phil Read vs Stephen Milne

Rd 4 vs Adelaide
Glen Jakovich vs Wayne Carey

Rd 5 vs Fremantle
Ben Cousins vs Matthew Carr

Rd 6 vs Melbourne
Ashley McIntosh vs David Neitz

Rd 7 vs Geelong
Michael Gardiner vs Steven King

Rd 8 vs Collingwood
Troy Wilson vs Shane Wakelin

Rd 9 vs Richmond
Michael Collica vs David Rodan

Rd 10 vs Essendon
Adam Hunter vs Matthew Lloyd

Note:This probably won't happen so I'll go...
Chris Judd vs Damien Peverill

Rd 11 vs Western Bulldogs
Josh Wooden vs Daniel Giansiracusa

Rd 12 vs Brisbane
Rowan Jones/Daniel Chick vs Michael Voss

Rd 13 vs Kangaroos
Travis Gaspar vs Glen Archer

Rd 14 vs Sydney
David Wirrpunda vs Matthew Nicks

Rd 15 vs Carlton
Troy Wilson vs Mick Martyn 's boots.

What does everyone else think?

Providing the match-ups happen, the derbies should have some pretty good contests...

Matthew Pavlich vs. Michael Gardiner Assuming Cox is rucking and Gardy's pugilism has improved since the Demolition Derby.

Paul Hasleby vs. Daniel Kerr Two white-hot young talents with skills and smarts up the wazoo.

Trent Croad vs. Glen Jakovich Obviously not gonna happen but would be worth it for the spectacle and the slapping.

I always knew Freo pulled its talent out of its arse, and this would seem to confirm that :p ;)

Being sensible for a sec though, It'd be interesting to see some of our younger talls (McDougall, Lynch, Gaspar, etc) get a run against Freo's more established young talls. Would be excellent for them to get some experience in Derby atmosphere against opposition they will probably be seeing for some years to come.

B.Cousins vs D Kerr.

Hope it's not to serious as the midfield could be weakened by the absence of one or both.
The idiots are back early this year.

I've always like the Matera V Parker contest.

Which game do you watch?
Parker's played on Steggles about once in his entire life. Steggles opponents in recent times have been Hayden, Walker and before that Clement.

1 on 1 contest between Kerr and Ben's Cousin should be a tight one.

Thanks BP, I realise that Matera has had a number of opponents in the derbies.

I was sitting just behind the fence in the pocket when they played on each other. It was a great battle and personally I enjoyed seeing the niggling that went on between the two of them on the day. I believe both are still playing and could line up in one of the three (yay, three) derbies.
