Where's this Dempsey squib thing come from? Is it because he's a little loose playing defence? Are people just making shit up to pot him?
Beats me.

I'm filthy on Dempsey most games, but shirking contests isn't one of the reasons.

He goes in as hard as the next guy. In fact, his evasiveness in traffic's one of the best on our list.

I have metioned before the different parts of hardness.

Dempsey is one of the most courageous players in the air but his failing is not bodylining ground balls.

He often will run into a pack with one arm flailing for the ball - No surprise that he misses it more often than not.

Best team yet :thumbsu:

I am going to wait for the silly season to end before I even contemplate what our team will look like..

You all put Stanton in the team, but he could go to GC. Silly thread, best 22 at the moment may have been better appropriate.

Fair enough HFF - by the way love yr Bendigo reviews!

I didnt put Stanton in my team - I agree - dont think its likley he'll be at Essendon next year - whilst well down on his best form in 2010, he still has currency and we should be able to benefit significantly if we trade him.
Have to disagree when you say its a silly thread though. Im sure many of us have written off this year and are looking to next year and have our own opinions on who we should/shouldn't keep on the list. That being the case I think its well worth discussing what we want our best 22 to look like. Just my opinion though.

For the sake of it I'm just gonna use this years list to make my team so there are no ifs IE GC and delistings

B: Hocking Hurley Fletch
HB: Pears Hooker Mcveigh
C: Reimers Watson Melksham
HF: Zaka Gumby Monfries
F: Hardingham Neagle Davey
R: Ryder Stanton Howlett
INT: Myers, Colyer, Hille, Winderlich

EMG:Welsh, Williams, Tbell, T.Slatts, Carslie, Rigga, Priss, Dyson, Dempsey ect, ect the list goes on.

Hocking will be the small lockdown player along with fletch
Hurley running FB with Forward capibilities ala Lake
Hooker CHB on 2nd best KP forward
Pears 3rd man and using his footskills off halfback same with Mcveigh (He, Stanton and Reimers can all rotate this role during the match)
Reimers and Melksham some speed on the wings and obviously Jobe in the guts
Zaka and Gus as lead up marking forwards
Gumby in his natural CHF role, Neagle as the big bodied FF, Hardingham marking 3rd man up and Davey the harrasor
Ryder starts in the ruck, along with stanton an Howlett can do some sort of tagging/run with role
Myers to rotate with Watto, Hille Ruck/KPF, Travis 'Timmy Watson' Colyer speed and heart, and Winderlich for pace and skills

Personally if, IF all things go right this could be a very good template team Rd1 with mabye a rookie or inj place to be taken by the 'others'

Davey Gumbleton Jetta
Monfries Neagle Hardingham
Hille Stanton Howlett
Ryder Melksham Lonergan Houli
Emer - Myers Bellchambers Colyer

I hope we stick with Myers & Houli. I cant see us getting much for Myers considering the pick we took him with. Houli just needs a little faith in him. Would prefer we keep faith in these two as well if Stants happens to go.

Im torn b/w colyer and jetta at hff. colyer has good speed and confidence to run. reminds me a lot of boomer harvey. Jetta may be a good trade option.

i like bellchambers but i question whether hooker could pinch hit as a ruckman/backman/forward and BC waits until hille is getting close to finishing up.

Really like the year Lonergan and Hocking have had. Not such a great one from Reimers.

Would have Slattery and Dempsey in should any of Jetta, Stanton or Houli go or if either of Welsh or McVeigh hang up the boots.
Not sure where NLM fits in anymore.

I wouldn't mind seeing if a Gumbleton/Carlisle forward line would work. Carlisle was looking pretty good today and will benefit from a pre-season quite nicely.

B: Fletcher - Hurley - McVeigh
HB: Hooker - Pears - Hocking
C: Zaharakis - Watson - Winderlich
HF: Monfries - Gumbleton - Williams
F: Hardingham - Neagle - Davey
R: Hille - Howlett - Stanton
Int: Ryder - Colyer - Houli - Melksham
Emg: Jetta, NLM, Prismall

Interesting to note that no one has NLM in their side.

HB: Pears Hooker Stanton
C: Houli Watson Zaharakis
HF: Jetta Gumby Monfries
F: Williams Hardingham Davey
R: Ryder Winderlich Howlett
INT: Hille Prismall Dempsey Myers
EMG: Colyer Melksham Welsh NLM

interesting that not many had Welsh in their sides either. Would almost be tempted to give Hocking a go playing HFF a little too, we've really lacked someone who can nail a 50m bomb all year.

Way too tall in the backline there, would get carved up by the likes of Garlett, Betts and Yarran. Unfortunately I don't think we can fit all of of Pears, Hooker, Fletch and Hurley in one backline. Might cause some headaches next year.

ya rekn? fletch and pears can both play tall or small and do either task well. this lineup also gives us the flexibility to send hurley forward if needs be.

did just realise i left hocking out completely though , defo want him in somewhere. same with atkinson, if spike doesnt get some improvement in his kicking and general movement (he's looked sore/slow all yr) before the next season i'd slot atko straigh on in to the BP

Myers looked pretty comfortable in the backline yesterday. I have no problem with him playing either position, I just wish he'd get picked more.

I find these threads quite funny.

would not complete such a task until our list is finalized.

People are including Knights and Rischitelli - Without taking anyone out, people who if we did get them, would have to trade.

We could draft a kid that might come straight in, Recruit a senior body that nobody has taken into account, delist some players out of left field.

Could be some tough decisions made. I wouldnt be suprised if Neagle, Dyson, Welsh are gone. Stanton looks likely to go to GC17. We may get a decent pick for him.

Players get injured during preseasons!

WHO THE BLOODY HELL KNOWS???
