Speaking of nicknames, saw a great piece in one of the papers about Luke Davis. His new nickname is "Eric", and he couldn't work out why.

Turns out his family organised a banner for him to run through when he came over from Adelaide, and after much persuasion he eventually agreed to do it. Word got back to the club, so he became "Eric" Bana.

Tall forward line but i dont mind that - especially with zaha, monfries, davey etc picking up the crumbs and the fact that none of gumby, ryder, hurley are overly slow.

Cant find a spot for Welsh or Prismall which a few people might disagree with.
Many other players unlucky also - Hardingham, Lonergan, Reimers, Heppel, NLM, Myers, Carlisle - oh - and Dyson. I notice not many people have Dyson in there starting 22 - interested in peoples thoughts on him....
Wheres his game at ?- how is he performing on the training track? etc... anyone up to date with his progress as he seems to be somewhat a forgotten man...

If Ricky can get back to his '09 form then that's a massive bonus.

Champion Data had him in their top 10 best kicks (in '09).

Well what im trying to say is next year they wont be able to with only 3 players on the bench. They spent plenty of time on the bench last year, especially Hille.

He aint getting any younger, next year you wont be able to have a ruckmen spending a quarter of the game on the bench, thats what Hille did last year.

Have to disagree Dunn - Well Done.
Now theres only 3 on the bench the days of a back-up ruckman or guys that can ruck but have no other tricks are virtually gone. Ruckamn will have to be versatile, and thankfully, we currently have 2 guys in Hille & Ryder that are just that.
Both Hille & Ryder have proven they can play forward and arent just 1 trick ponys, and weather they are a 'leading' full forward or one that sits in the square and either marks the ball or brings it to ground is irrelevant really.

I think you will find many coachs will agree with this, and if two 'ruckman type' players are in the 21 then 1 of them will have to be versatile enough to hold down another position on the ground and for many this will mean a forward/full forward role.

Obviousily whether your playing as a leading full forward (Podsiadlly) or just sitting in the square to rest as a deep forward is quite relevant when people are trying to make Hille and Ryder play 100% TOG each. Any chance of that and it will mean they will need to rest deep forward (forward pocket sitting in the square) (Sandilands) like. Leading full forwards as i mentioned work extremely hard and ruckmen resting wont be able to do this. Last year it was more able due to the ruckmen spending time on the bench (eg: Hille only played 3 quarters of a game last year on avg).

Im happy as ive said as a forward pocket that rest in the goal square as much as possible. Hurley will be our full forward\main man next year.
