Tunbridge or Colledge. If you had to choose one, which one and why? Colledge seems the more impressive for mine, but I know Tunbridge is also rated highly, abet yet to really demonstrate he can transition from highly rated junior to AFL regular..

Colledge for versatility.

Midfielder who plays forward or a forward who plays small minutes forward? Id take Colledge on that fact. But Tunbridge has more upside as he's quicker and uses the ball better by foot.

He probably also serves as an on field translator of Simpson's gameplan.

I rate him - think you've been a bit harsh.

You can probably get away with being an on field translator of the coaches game plan if you are a gun player, ie Luke Hodge, who as captain is expected to do that. Nick Maxwell has got mixed reviews for playing a similar role to Ellis for the Pies, backline coordinator/third man in defender, but he's way ahead of Ellis in my book in both his marshalling and football ability. We aren't exactly a young team a la GWS who need someone out there to tell them where to go, they should all know this already. I just don't think he offers enough to be an automatic first 22 selection and that his potential is over rated.

Ellis is clearly best 22 for me if fully fit has experience and skill . He is playing HBF at the moment because that's where we need his kicking skills and help implement the new game plan . I would rather him at HFF / wing in the future

Little bit of a crystal ball. Are the bolded inclusions realistic? Pickett looks a goer for our first pick, Rohan seems to be out of favour a bit and would do well on the vast expanses of Subi, Mora could be a target if Freo keep him out for much longer. Bit tired of the likes of Masten (sorry champ) and Wellingham getting pushed around so much, likes of Colledge and an (eventually) experienced Sheed could help. Need to focus on having better users in the middle too.

Murray Newman, Scott Lycett, Jarrod Pickett
Mark Le Cras, Josh Kennedy, Jack Darling
Andrew Gaff, Elliot Yeo, Gary Rohan
Shannon Hurn, Jeremy McGovern, Xavier Ellis
Jamie Bennell, Eric Mackenzie, Will Schofield

Nic Naitanui, Scott Selwood, Luke Shuey

INT: Brad Sheppard, Dom Sheed, Brant Colledge

SUB: Anthony Morabito

Gary Rohan ? Has pace but runs around like a headless chook ! Has no idea how to find the pill . I love Newman and Pickett in our forward line rotating through the midfield .
No waterman ?
Trade for 2 players with massive injury issues is a bad idea . If we got mora for a steal then yes .
Would prefer trading for Ben Newton as he can't break into a strong port midfield and playing very good Sanfl footy being in the best nearly every week .
Also mason shaw is out of contract and would allow darling to be a full time mid where I think he will end up

Isn't Newton kind of slow and not much different to what we have already?

Rohan would be a punt, but if he was cheap I'd have a pop.

Waterman won't be Best 22 next year (initially).

Newton isn't priddis slow and has better kicking . Turns it over a bit but not from poor kicks just too audacious / high risk kicks .

Rohan wouldn't be cheap in money or trade value :(

Waterman wouldn't be in best 22 next year but you have Pickett in the team ? Guess it depends on roles

Would like to see Maginness or Karpany used as sub because they may have impact if they give it everything for a qtr and a half

Ellis is a gun. One of our best players.

Add Pickett, Waterman, a rejuvenated Newman, a fully fit Karpany/Tunbridge/Colledge and we will start our mini-rebuild next year.

Yep, depends on roles. Get Newman back and place him up front with Pickett and suddenly we have some dynamic smalls in the forward half.

I fear we've wasted a pick on Karpany when there were better and similar options available in Cameron/Kennedy-Harris.

Difference between Cameron KHarrass and Karpany is Karpany was drafted to eventually play midfield . The highlight video of his colts GF best on ground performance were drool worthy ! Very much in the Daniel wells mould as an agile damaging mid rather than a small forward . Was always going to be a couple of years development for him .

We'll see. After the Weedon fiasco I have very little faith in our recruiters drafting indigenous talent with earlyish picks.
