I generally enjoy the Inside Footy rankings but this just blows all credibility out of the water.

The Captain appears border line 22 according to this publication and less important than Gibson.
It's not a new thing either. I used to buy Inside Football before every season and the editor at the time was a bloke called Tony Greenberg, a noted Richmond supporter, and his line up of the best NM team was a laugh. He clearly knew nothing about our list. And this was when we were winning flags and playing finals as a matter of course!

Carey off the back flanks, Kingy in the ruck, Pickett charging out of full forward... Great times I remember them well.

I feel like when I watch North I see Atley copping a lot of defensive pressure from opposition forwards and also certain set plays that are built on the fact that he is seriously fast. No one else in our back six has the leg speed to use the corridor when congested like Ats does. Remove Atley and we're slow and Sam Wright cops a tag, don't think it would look pretty, would leave us very predictable.

I love watching Atley use his speed but agree with Egga. he's got to show more with it. If he carries on from the end of last year that would be fantastic

Hi guys, just curious to hear what kind of role wells will be given? Wing, small forward or perhaps inside midfielder?

Cheers

Never has been an inside mid and won't be an inside mid ahead of Cunnington, Ziebell and Swallow. Outside mid/wing. Maybe resting forward but we have an oversupply of small-mid forwards.

B: McMillan, Tarrant, Hansen
HB: Atley, Thompson, Wright
C: Dal Santo, Ziebell, Wells
HF: Harvey, Waite, Anderson
F: Garner, Petrie, Brown
Foll: Goldy, Cunnington, Swallow
Int: McDonald, Jacobs, Higgins, Thomas
Emg: Firrito, Gibson, Dumont

Depth: McKenzie, Turner, Wood, Black, Tippett, Mullett

Depth 22:

B: Hibberd, Tippett, Firrito
HB: Mullett, Durdin, McKenzie
C: Clarke, Dumont, Fordham
HF: Wood, McKay, Black
F: Turner, Daw, Nahas
Foll: Pruess, Ray, Gibson
Int: Mountford, Wagner, Nielson, Vickers-Willis,
That's a really solid and deep team across the board with no real weaknesses. North should be making the top 4 this year with that side.

Based on the last couple of praccy matches I'd have Mcdonald out of that side and either firrito, mullett, dumont or Clarke in.

Was just about to post something similar. Firrito (what's he done wrong that so many want to drop him?) and Ryan 'Baker's Dozen' Clarke definitely ahead, and the other two as well probably. Depends a bit on the opposition match ups. Want to see more reliability from Luke, especially in disposal efficiency; no point being a defender if you're handing it back.

Hey Pykie, would you have Hibberd ahead of McDonald based on what you've seen?

I've only seen match sim stuff and both were very good. Hibberd got toweled up by Wood in one of the sims.

Do you think Hibberd could hold his own agains a Mitch Duncan type or a AFL standard 3rd tall?

Edit: also goes out to anyone who watched both games B Tron

Personally id have Hibberd behind Firitto, Mullett and McDonald at this stage. He's been solid defensively but hasn't provided much going forward. He's been impressive for a draftee but thats just what he is.

Thanks mate. That's what I was thinking.

See the bolded name? He is in the first half dozen picked!

FB: Firrito - Thompson - Hansen

CHB: Atley - Tarrant - Wright

C: Wells - Swallow - Dal Santo

CHF: Higgins - Petrie - Harvey

FF: Thomas - Waite - Garner

R: Goldstein - Cunnington - Ziebell

I/C: Brown, Macmillan, Jacobs, Anderson

Emergencies: Gibson, Turner, McDonald

Don't look too much into the positions of players and who's on the bench, that's purely for team balance. Ultimately, barring injury, that's the 22 I'd like for Round 1 at this stage.

Come finals, I'd hope players like McDonald, Wood, Turner, Mullett, Daw and McKenzie have had runs in the seniors and have looked like replacing players such as Petrie/Waite, Dal, Boomer and Spud in the coming years.

yeah this is the 22 id go with too.:thumbsu:

How can you name Jacobs as an emergency when he is pretty vital to the team. Is in the first half dozen picked behind Goldstein, Harvey, Petrie, Swallow and Ziebell.
And Higgins, Thompson and Macmillan by default.

Closest to the team I had in mind so far. Would probably put Hibberd or Clarke in front of McDonald personally. Maybe even Mullett

Few getting a bit carried away with the draftees here. Bon has never been one to play draftees early (except LMac), and with one of the most experienced lists in the league, the chances of any of the draftees getting much game time this year are very slim.
