Francis Hurley McKenna
Ridley Hooker Saad
Zakka Heppell McGrath
Fantasia Daniher Langford
Stringer McKernan Tippa

Bellcho Smith Z.Merrett

Bench from: Myers Parish Guelfi Laverde

Unlucky: Brown, Redman, Gleeson, Ambrose, Stewart

Can fit everyone into the team - its a good thing we've got lots of depth and young guys coming through as shown by our reserves performing so well this year. Still think we need to land in inside mid to help out our on ball division - the rest of the team looking very well balanced and plenty of X factor in there...

I have put every player from the current senior and rookie lists that are still playing on in 2019 (with the info available to this point.)

I like to lay it out like this to give a '1 in, 1 out' look and overall, the list looks fairly well balanced right now, with players predominantly in positions that best suit them. Obviously, this isn't a hard and fast list and there are plenty of names in brackets that could easily be in the starting 22 for some or all of next season, as you'd like to think guys like Laverde, Begley, Redman, Ridley etc should be going past established players or grabbing their chance when a spot opens up through injury or suspension.

It'll be interesting to edit this post as more players are delisted, promoted and drafted to see how it looks for the first game of pre-season.

EDIT: Gigg-gigg-giggity!

I've always enjoyed doing these in the past, but something has changed. This year, it's no longer really about who is better than who, we all understand the answers to that already. Roughly speaking we know the team and we know we have able depth, but what we don't know is how good they are going to be. I'm really not looking forward to a year that contains the following style of script.

Gleeson/JD struggling to find his feet after some time off, but don't worry he will come good.
Langford dropped off a little but if he could just get back to that late 2018 form we will really start to win some more games.
Francis, Parish and McGrath developing nicely, but you can't expect too much from them at this age can you...
TBC holding his own but maybe he is carrying a niggle that's stopping him getting to more contests?
* we really should have just given McKernan one year on reflection!
* we really need Hooker at both ends don't we?
Zaka needs to get back to finding his own ball again.
Why the * are they picking Colyer!
If the team could just get some continuity we would be fine...

Me too. Loved picking the best 22. Now as we come closer to pre season training, I get scared because when we nail it, Ross always has to go and show and do the other thing.

Francis Hooker Gleeson
McKenna Hurley Saad
ZMerrett Heppell McGrath
Fantasia Daniher Brown
Walla Stringer Begley

Bellcho Langford Smith

Redman Zaharakis Parish Guelfi

Laverde, Ridley, Myers, Ambrose emergencies.

If this team has any deficiencies, it is another mid who is strong overhead. Someone like Luke Parker? This might be less of a problem if Langford/Laverde/Begley continue their improvement.
A midfield with Zerret, McGrath, Smith, Zaka and Parish (With Walla and Fantasia) is possibly just too short and can be exploited. The final against Sydney last year showed this.

Our depth is definitely building with no Colyer, Hartley, Dea or Smack in the best 26, and youngsters Mutch, Clark, Mynott and Draper a fair few injuries off selection, but probably capable of Seniors.

Tried to find a place for Ridley, but couldn't.
If we get Martin, Tyson and Setterfield:

Gleeson - Hooker - Francis
McKenna - Hurley - Saad
McGrath - Shiel - Heppell
Zaharakis - Daniher - Stringer
Frantasia - Stewart - Walla
Bellchambers - Langford - Merrett
Parish - Myers - Martin - Smith

Emg: Ridley - McKernan - Redman - Begley

Could add Shiel, Setterfield or Martin to this but its a damn good team without them anyway given Redman, Guelfi, Stewart, Brown, Ridley and Hartley miss out. Not to mention Clarke and Mutch who could help fill the midfield void next season.

Looks good.
Maybe Guelfi for Myers and Redman for Gleeson as possibilities for the best 22?

Myers is a lock for me based on his 2018.

Backing Gleeson to get back from injury.

There'll be other injuries though and players will get a chance. If you play your role well you hold your spot, even when there is good competition for spots. At the start of the year I'd have had it 100-1 that Brown would be playing ahead of Stewart - but that's exactly what happened.

Perhaps I'm just bias, but what exactly is our weakness?

I refuse to drop Baguley.

But if I did it would be for McKernan.

Consistency of performance.

And no, you are not bias. You are however, undoubtedly biased.
