I like this mate! And agree on Hollands. Hate to say it because I love the man, but maybe Elijah in for Holman?
Would you do that, neither him or Davies have played much footy the last couple years. Or would you give them a couple VFL games first? Especially for Hollands who has just come off an ACL

Are we talking best 22 or Rd 1. Round one, I think Hollands misses. But pre season games will be telling

I think round 1 we're talking.
For sure, the pre-season games should be interesting.

Will they play everyone? Will they make it preparation for round 1 like some teams do, or will they use it as a chance to get minutes into kids.

Blokes like Holman, Sexton, Day, McPherson, Burgess and Corbett playing more VFL then AFL is a huge win for us. This year will be the changing of the guard seems we have drafted well the last 4 years.

2018 - King, Lukosius, Rankine
2019 - Rowell, Anderson, Sharp, Flanders, Budarick
2020 - Jeffrey, Davies, Hollands

That’s half of ya best 22 there in 3 years of drafting. We have plenty of great clubmen who over the next 2 years will
Unfortunately for them be moved on. 22 for Round 1 so far for me:

Powell, Collins, Budarick
Markov, Ballard, Weller
Sharp, Miller, Ellis
Swallow, Lukosius, Ainsworth
Rankine, King, Flanders

Witts, Rowell, Anderson

Bench: Fiorini, Lemmens, Chol, Davies

Emergency: Holman

I know that rotations occur so often - but I don't think we can play only King and Lukosius as talls in the forward line. Need someone else with some aerial presence.

Time to update my round 1 best 22 based on injuries and training reports.

As for injuries/recovery.
King is gone.
Witts, Budarick, Conroy and Thompson still don’t participate in scrimmages.
Budarick will be 11 and Witts 10-11 months post ACL when season starts. Budarick had some heavy strapping on his knee while watching the latest scrimmage. I have them both out for round 1 and up to round 5.
I can’t see Thompson starting straight in AFL. VFL first if he can make it.
Day is racing to be fit for round 1 with wrist injury. Out round 1 for me.
Bowes out until round 5-7.

FB Lemmens, Collins, Powell
HB Weller, Ballard, Markov
C Sharp, Anderson, Ellis
HF Ainsworth, Lukosius, Swallow
FF Rankine, Casboult, Sexton
FOL Chol, Miller, Rowell
INT Flanders/Davies, Burgess, Holman, Corbett/Jeffrey
SUB Macpherson

I am not sure about 3-4 players and don’t really worry about starting line-up.
Macpherson played in red (probable) in scrimmages. He could swap place with Sexton.
Sexton is recovering from groin. Is he up to it or out?
Is it Corbett or Jeffrey as a third tall?
I think Burgess will play if Witts is not ready. Will Eagles play tall?
Will Davies get opportunity ahead of Flanders? Both played in blue recently.

Practice and AAMI match will tell us more. Especially regarding Witts and Budarick availability. I would say they need to get a game under their belt before round 1.

No more injuries please.

Corbett is comfortably in starting 22 for me. Kicked 2nd most amount of goals for us last season despite only playing 16 games.

Can’t see this side winning many games early rounds unfortunately.

Solid side.

We will need Corbett's marking power and tank over Jeffery, especially against McGovern/Barass/Hurn.

Won't need burgess, Eagles have no Darling, Allen is carrying something and Kennedy is being managed heavily for round 1 so they all aren't in their best condition. Williams will have to play and he's Burgess level anyways.

Flanders is a lock in the side i think, we are investing to much time into him especially him getting midfield minutes in the second half of the year for him not to go in.

I see Flanders in best 22 too but he played as blue.

Agree, Eagles look banged up. It looks like Cripps now did shoulder possibly.

If Chol is our ruck in round 1 (I have some doubts about his stamina), Casboult will probably give him a chop. Burgess could still be handy forward.

Round 1 shapes up as a key game for us. We have to take our chance. Eagles are more than vulnerable.

Naitanui will have a handful with Chol & Casboult. Chol and Nic nat were pretty even in their Eagles v Tigers match up
