Foll: Jolly Ball Pendles

Inter: Wood Johnson Beams sub: blair

we need some youngsters to come through and develop to gain more depth now..players like :

ugle witts elliot paine yagamoor ceglar sinclair J thomas

B: Shaw Tarrant O'Brien
HB: Toovey Reid Brown
C: Goldsack Swan Thomas
HF: Wellingham Cloke Maxwell

Re: Best 22 rnd 1

tarrant had a sensational year last year, nathan brown didnt play a game.

how does brown get first crack at fb

Re: Best 22 rnd 1

B: Toovey, Tarrant, Maxwell
HB: Brown, Reid, Shaw
C: Clarke, Swan, Thomas
HF: Didak, Cloke, Beams
F: Sidebottom, Dawes, Wellingham
R: Jolly, Pendlebury, Ball
Int: O'Brien, Wood, Fasolo sub; Johnson

Emerg: Blair, Ugle, Goldsack

No mucking around in round 1, we pick our absolute best 22 players, and sorry, but Blair and Goldsack are not in that best 22 if the rest are fit, in fact if Caff and Krak were fit, they would be competing to be an emergency.

Marty Clarke and Nathan Brown improve us from the finals of last year straight off, and with another pre season under his belt, Wood gets first shot at the secondary ruck role.

That first 20 players (Harry and BJ plus the starting 18) is as strong as any other teams best 20 in the AFL still, we just need to manage them properly so that the majority of that 20 are on fire come September.

All this depends on the fitness of all players obviously.:)

agree though we cant play tarrant brown reid all in the same backline..with maxwell obrien too top heavy imo..

with krak and caff gone, I think taz could play the lead up forward role..brown is not a forward ethier

Re: Best 22 rnd 1

Marty Clarke has not played AFL for what, 3 years? Tough ask for him to come straight in against Hawthorn in round 1, he hasn't even played a pre season game yet.

Possible sub choice? Sub Fasolo off in the 3rd/4th and bring in Marty..?

Re: Best 22 rnd 1

Possibly, I would like to see a couple of solid performances in the NAB before consideration.

Personally I just think even having been out of the game for however long, he has more class in his left boot than any of the applicable emergencies.

Like this team, but for mine the Sack is not in the 22.

Didak may have to re earn his spot also.

I'm sorry, but Ben Reid, Sharrod Wellingham and Dayne Beams?

Beams was top 5 in our B & F before injury struck last year, and Ben Reid is the reigning All Australian Full Back who will play this week and barring any setbacks is one of the first picked for round 1. And Sharrod with our deficiencies up forward now, and the depth he offers our midfield is a certainty to play round 1 barring injury.

But yes, the rest I agree with, and there's plenty of others who need to prove they can go in round 1.

Re: Best 22 rnd 1

I think Marty Clarke with his clean disposal plus time and space, would have to get a game before Fasolo, Blair and Goldsack.

It's all about how many guys can we have running through the midfield, and with Clarke's elite skills he would make a great goal scoring outside mid this year.

I am well aware of who they are!
hoping all three play on the weekend obviously if they don't they are cutting it fine for round 1. thanks for agreeing

all the teams I have seen selected on this thread are there or thereabouts I just wanted to a moment and add that we have been hearing throughtout the pre season that Harvey wants Sidey & Beamsy to spend more time in the midfield this year..maybe swanny may get to rest in the goal square a bit :thumbsu:
Marty Clarke they are talking a la Leon Davis go the mad dash sweep up the ball run & carry then pass it forward..Shaw also to play more mid ..Yagmoor taking alot of the kickouts at training & played defence in nabcup1 How can a teenager be considered the best kick at the club???...Blairy trying to build up his tank to take on more midfield responsibilities....if players can stay fit u may see dids and Johnno subbing a bit also...surely the fazz can't be the super sub again lol FWIW I hate the sub rule...even with our injuries to date we have kids like Thomas Ugle Sinclair Rounds Young Yagmoor Elliot Witts Buckley Paine Seedsman...youngsters must step up or drop back in the pack:(

Like dayna said all the teams listed are good and will be close to the actual 22 selected.

Personally I want to see Clarke in R1 or R2 whether he has played NAB or not. As long as he has the fitness I want him in there asap.
Having been out of the game a few years the only way he will adapt to the game style is to be playing with the AFL team in the home and away season. Playing in the NAB will help match fitness no doubt but I don't think that's much of a concern for Clarke. Throw him into the deep end, I think he'll do very well.

Very happy it's only a month away now.

B - Maxwell Tarrant Toovey

blue is suspect
Red is injured

Suspect players may play this weekend and prove themselves. I didn't include Harry.

I could of swore I seen an article that Bucks has said Taz and Dids will be right to go round 1.

Reid and Wellingham will both play Saturday night and if they get through then they should play round 1 (both are best 22).

Havent heard much about Blair but with injuries to Krakouer and Macaffer you would think he would play.

Beams if fit should play. He is a better option when fit then any of the other young blokes in the VFL.

The team was a quick attempt off the top of my head although looks a more than handy team.

Travis Cloke and Sharrod Wellingham will also come in, while defender Ben Reid will return from a shoulder injury he sustained in Thailand over the New Year period.Buckley said Chris Tarrant (foot) and Alan Didak (adductor) were progressing well, with both completing running drills at training on Wednesday.

Veteran Ben Johnson (hamstring) was also running, away from the main group, while Martin Clarke and Nathan Brown were taking part in full training.

All seems pretty good to me, at the moment only Krak and Caff are ruled out for round one, in fact it seems as if everyone will be available by pre season week 4.:)

Finally things are turning around.

If all available come round 1 then I stand by the team I posted earlier and hopefully we line up that way.
