you saying you would rather have edwards in the forward pocket in 2010 than milne?

Milne missing? or doing more team things?? And still kicking 60 goals a year! The guy is a gun and cant wait for him to be a premiership player in 7 months.:)

Milne is the most unfairly judged player maybe of ALL time. never gets credit for good games just hounded on his bad ones.

200 games, 400 goals.

Sure am.

I'd rather a player who can go in and win the hardball as well as be servicable in a pocket than one who can't.

Milne is as one dimensional as they come. Not saying he has had a poor career as you say 400+ goals over 200+ games is a good effort but I would pick Edwards over him everytime regardless of posistion.

As for being 'the most unfairly judged player of all time' I'd imagine a chap like Brett Voss would hold that title.

B: Simon Prestigiacomo - Matthew Scarlett - Darren Milburn
HB: Andrew McLeod - Dustin Fletcher - Simon Goodwin
C: Ben Cousins - Simon Black - Adam Goodes
HF: Brent Harvey - Warren Tredrea - Jason Akermanis
F: Daniel Bradshaw - Barry Hall - Brad Johnson
R: Brad Ottens - Lenny Hayes - Brett Kirk (c)
INT: Steven King - Luke Power - Chad Cornes - Tyson Edwards

EMG: Stephen Milne - Cameron Mooney - Tarkyn Lockyer

Brogan/Gardiner/King for backup ruck. Gardiner was best when fit but King has had the better career. Not sure on some those guys D.O.B's.

cha ching who needs a w***er like Milne in the side.
Plenty of crumbing options with Aker, Harvey and Johnson.

Interesting idea... not a bad side!

How about an over 27yo team compared to an under 27yo team?
Would a bunch of talented (and presumably faster) kids be able to beat a side full of experienced bodies?

Btw, just thought 27 is kinda fair median age to choose..

Under 27:

B: Sam Gilbert - Ben Rutten - Harry O'Brien
HB: Brendon Goddard - Nathan Bock - Luke Hodge
C: Jimmy Bartel - Dane Swan - Adam Cooney
HF: Shaun Higgins - Lance Franklin - Marc Murphy
F: Steve Johnson - Jarryd Roughead - Mark LeCras
R: Mitch Clark - Chris Judd - Gary Ablett
INT: Hamish McIntosh - Joel Selwood - Daniel Kerr - Nick Dal Santo

Over 27:
B: Brian Lake - Matthew Scarlett - Corey Enright
HB: Simon Goodwin - Craig Bolton - Sam Fisher
C: Sam Mitchell - Simon Black - Adam Goodes
HF: Alan Didak - Nick Riewoldt - Paul Chapman
F: Leon Davis - Jonathan Brown - Matthew Pavlich
R: Dean Cox - Matthew Boyd - Lenny Hayes
INT: Aaron Sandilands - Brent Harvey - Ryan O'Keefe - Jason Akermanis

The under 27 side probably has the better midfield but the over 27 side would smash them in regards to key position players. I've probably forgotten someone though.

Good effort AUSSIE GUN. Not much I can see wrong in player positioning and team balance. :thumbsu:

Maybe we should first list all the players 30+ before making sides.

Ade: Goodwin, Edwards, Doughty, Burton, McLeod
Bris: Power, Johnstone, Black
Carl: Scotland (turns 30 in July)
Coll: Presti, Lockyer
Ess: Fletcher
Frem: Grover (30 in two days), Tarrant turns 30 in September, so include him or not?
Geel: Mooney, Ottens, Milburn, Scarlett,
Haw: -
Melb: McDonald, Bruce ............ Jones :)p)
NM: Harvey
P.A.: Brogan, Carr (turns 30 next month), Tredrea, Cornes
Rich: Cousins, Simmonds
St. K: King, Gardiner, Milne, Hayes
Syd: Bolton (30 in may), Kirk, Goodes, Bradhsaw,
W.C.: - (surprising)
W.B.: Johnson, Akermanis, Hall, Hudson

I *think* that's everyone but if I've missed anyone, mea culpa grande.

A few thoughts:

- Any team has to have Cousins and Black. This isn't some new-found-respect-for-Cousins-because-he-plays-for-the-tigers. Premiership winner, captain, brownlow winner.
- Is Milne really 30? Surprised me. Ditto Hayes.
- Maybe it's change, but I thought WC had at least one 30 yo. I don't think they do.
- People forget Bruce, injury free he could have been so much better.

FB: Presti, Scarlett, Cornes
CHB: Goodwin, Fletcher, Milburn,
C: Edwards, Black, Goodes
CHF: Johnson, Tredrea, Akermanis
FF: Milne, Mooney, Burton
R: Ottens, Cousins, Harvey

Int: Hayes, Bruce, Lockyer, McLeod

Emg: Power, Hall, Kirk (sorry, don't like token ruck nods)

Players played out of position yadda yadda. Bolton may get in in a few months time. Harvey doesn't need to play as a crumber, watch his career, he's been a star midfielder for years.

Thoughts?

That side would win the premiership in a canter.

Take note those posters that continually fill this place up with the stench of "best under 23 1/2 team" threads.

OK... I will bite not at only the OP (for stupidly naming Goodes as CHF where he has never played) but also anyone else who left out THE MONOLITH.

Career
MONOLITH (AA CHF 4 times in a row, once as Vice Captain)
MOONEY (can't be bothered looking it up but no where near it)

ok some may say MONOLITH's impact was early in his career in the early naughties... so

2009 Season
Player (games)- Goals/Behinds (%), Assists, AVG Disposals, AVG Marks

MONOLITH (21)- 51/27(65.4%), 20, 13.3, 6.8
MOONEY (24)- 46/42(52.3%), 24, 13.4, 7.4

The lack of respect (mainly from Victorians) is unfathomable. Sure he had a couple of years hampered by injuries, but 2009 he was almost back to his AA CHF best. If he played in Victoria a statue mould would have been created and the bronze poured in now in preparation for its erection outside the home club ground.

He is up there as one of the great club CHFs of all time: Carey, Kernahan, Hart, Brereton and the like. But no... lets all sit here and piss on him because he made a bow/phone call gesture in the heat of the moment.
