Dagie you are the king of misquoting and quoting people out of context.
You are the king of claiming to be "taken out of context" when confronted with earlier stupid statements.

Do you deny saying:

- Schofield is our second key defender
- Dalziell should be getting "maximum game time"
- Our current midfield would surpass the 2006 group

Fridge Magnet, tell me which of these didn't happen and I'll be happy to provide the direct quote.

You play little word games, sit on the fence and beat your chest stating things that are mostly are just plain obvious. Then you get owned with quotes from the players themselves that pretty much refute your argument / position so instead of trying the continue defending a 90's view of a player / issue you go off and deflect this with more tripe.
Fridgie, you need to do better than this.

Firstly, how am I "playing word games" or "sitting on the fence"? There's no sleight of hand involved here. Just stupid things you said previously which I now use to slap you in the face.

Secondly, what exactly did Glass say that you think refutes anything I've said? Throughout, I've said that having three tall defenders gives us greater flexibility. That's essentially what Glass said.

Fridgie, when are you going to learn to stay in your little box?

Do you get off on using patronizing nicknames? It feels like every time you try to make an argument you simultaneously try to belittle whoever it is you're arguing with.

You've posted well at times, but too often you just play the man, not the ball. It makes you appear petty, to me at least.

I only have pet names for a couple of my favourites.

There's Fridge Magnet, here. And Lennie, who loves to tend the rabbits and has a weakness for soft things. I think that's it.

You've posted well at times
Like I need you to tell me.

Sure, if you ignore all the clear, extensively made arguments. Do you think it's intellectually honest for you to do that?

If "playing the man" means reminding certain people of woeful arguments they made previously, then yes, I do that. Do you think that's unfair?

What's up O'doyle, why you calling me.

Fridgie, when are you going to learn to stay in your little box?

Daziell getting maximum game time, hmmmmmm.

I recall that comment was made referring to the club playing him as the sub which I think was silly. Dalziell's biggest asset was his running ability to run all day and run opponents into the ground and accumulate possessions. Playing him as a sub didn't really take advantage of his strongest asset and therefore you either give him maximum game time or simply don't bother picking him. Better options out there to be the sub.

I also recall saying that they should play him to see if he's improved and had anything to offer us going forward. If he's improved all well and good, if not he gets delisted.

Any issues with that?

Now you come along and make it sound / imply that I wanted Dalziell playing ahead of other better mids because he was better than them. WRONG Gunner but nice twist of words and misquoting which you are very good at.

Current midfield could possibly surpass 2006. I recall saying that this midfield was more even and doesn't rely on individual stars as much plus we now have a better forward group who could play midfield, the current ruck duo also much better than 2006. And if the current group did improve and won two flags (the 2006 midfield only won one) then they could surpass the 2006 version by achieving more.

But once again you come along and misquote what was said and claim you are once again the almighty god of Bigfooty and everyone should bow down and thank you for gracing us with your presence.

Hey I can play this game as well.

Dargie thinks Cox + Seaby combo was / is better than Cox + Naitanui. What a stupid thing to imply Gunner.

You ever thought of going into politics Gunner? I recon you'd be pretty good at it. Good politicians never let the truth get in the way of muck raking opponents and throwing mud around.

Well done keeping your cool this time though.:thumbsu: Who said you can't teach old dogs new tricks.;)

Here's the post.

Fridge Magnet, you started a whole thread to praise Dalziell. You said you wanted him to play for four quarters, to "get maximum game time" in 2014. Don't hide behind this bullshit claim you've been misquoted.

Current midfield could possibly surpass 2006. I recall saying that this midfield was more even and doesn't rely on individual stars as much plus we now have a better forward group who could play midfield, the current ruck duo also much better than 2006.
Don't backpedal now, Fridgie. You were far more bullish than that. Here you go.

Look at you barring up over the 2012 midfield, suggesting it could surpass the 2006 group because there are 14 solid players, "sprinkled with some class". In the opening line, you claimed it was an "easy call to make". And now, of course, you need to pretend you never said it. Where's your spine, Fridgie?

But once again you come along and misquote what was said and claim you are once again the almighty god of Bigfooty and everyone should bow down and thank you for gracing us with your presence.
I'd settle for you owning up to the stupid things you said. Why won't you?

How about Schofield being our second key defender? Or are you hoping everyone forgets about that?

That's how you got your name, Fridge Magnet. You just sweep together scraps of information in a random configuration and then start all over whenever you feel like it. A pretentious Frankenstein with no brain.

Dargie thinks Cox + Seaby combo was / is better than Cox + Naitanui.
Point me to that post, Sprinkles.

Fridgie, my 'cool' isn't in question. You, however, dissolve into a wounded little rant whenever you get your nose rubbed in it.

All I've done here is present the stupid things you've said previously. There's no 'muck-raking' or 'new tricks' involved. I'd love to know how you actually feel about these clangers. Obviously you'll never divulge because you still wrongly believe you can save face by denying them.

The fact you can't even take it on the chin - and instead pretend you never said them - is even more embarrassing than the comments themselves.

What would our best 22 look like if we employed a "Can't kick, can't play" philosophy?

XXXX Kennedy Hill
XXXX Darling LeCras
Ellis Shuey Gaff
Sheppard Schofield Hurn
Bennell XXXX XXXX

Cox Masten XXXX
XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX
Very interesting, and a reflection of our footballing philosophy.

Butler could most certainly slot into that vacant back-pocket, with Carter as back-up on the interchange.

And as for our KPB's, McKenzie is most certainly a decent disposer by foot relative to most KPB's. Brown is also adequate by these standards, despite his most recent outing.

And if skill by foot is the sole criteria, could also find room for College, Wilson, Tunbridge, Karpany, Newman and Main. All better than average kicks.

Rosa definitely would get a game, he's not an elite kick but he's definitely reliable
Ive been one of Rosa's biggest detractors but he has matured into a reliable decent player now. We just need Scooter, Gaff, Shuey and Wellingham to step up and become elite and we're back in the ball game.

Haha just saw this on facey

Scooter needs to be a better tagger and shut people down too often opposition best players Cain us .

Gaff needs to stick tackles even when he does get in good position player free their arms . Also needs a right footy and Win a 50/50 ball occasionally .

Shuey needs to cope with a tag and stop the high free shit ! That is all .

Wellingham :( collingwood supporters use to bag him out about his kicking over cooks them , grubbers around the laces and general shanks ! Don't know where this great kick profile came from . He sizzles an awesome pass every game but for each one misses 3 easy kicks

So we have a tagger that fails to shut people down , a potential gun who can't cope with a tag , a classy outside magnet that is soft as butter and a flashy playmaker that can't hit a target !

Simpson has some work to do !

Couldn't of said it better myself, but a simple fix would be to recruit a classy senior from somewhere with big bucks and those mentioned would lift their games as well I think.

The effects of free agency are overstated.

you may be right but it's a fairly new thing so let's see how it plays out.

it seems to me that big-name marquee players (or former marquee players like chappy, goddard) do change teams more freely than they have in the past (and not just through free agency.)

the tricky part, of course, is convincing them they want to play for you.
