What a stupid post. My opinion that Taberner won't ruck is based on what our club has been doing at training. The majority of rucking drills have been done by Hannath, not Taberner.

Haven't you got anything better than that?

Neither of them will be spending the majority of the time rucking.....

And in another thread you have shown that you do not rate Hannath at all as a forward, which is what they will be spending the majority of their time doing.

If Clarke is looking close to ready I would consider Taberner instead of Hannath as Clarke looks likely to be playing either rd 1 or rd 2 from reports. Particularly at Etihad. Particularly against the Pies.

Really? You should quote that thread. I might not rate Hannath as highly as Griffin or Kepler as a forward, but that doesn't mean I don't rate him at all. Those guys have 6 years experience on him after all. You really seem to have it in for me for some reason. Sorry for having different opinions to you, I guess.

Salim's story is not telling that take though.

I am not saying he was injured during his break , just that it could possibly be the reason.
It is felt by many of us though, that he is carrying something now.

There is a good reason Ross is arcing up over negative rumours about Colin.
I hope Sylv kills the pig this year.... and soon.

I have it in for you? You are the one pulling out the abuse, not me; "What a stupid post"

Why quote the thread? You clearly know the one and reference it here.

I am saying that I don't see significant difference in electing to go for either;

- a specialist forward who can pinch hit in the ruck for a game in which Sandilands will ruck the vast majority.

OR

- a specialist, developing ruck who will spend the majority of the game as a forward, and when playing in the ruck is likely to be competitive rather than dominant.

For me that is toss of the coin stuff.

Seems like a strange call given that he couldn't hold down a regular spot last year even with all our injuries. Perhaps try posting your best 22 and see how hard it is to fit him in.
Played 19 games of the regular season and all the finals. Seemed pretty regular to me.

Like I said, Taberner is a specialist forward but whether or not he can pinch hit in the ruck is debateable.

The stupid post in question was a veiled personal attack on me.

Here it is again *******:

Yeah, I am the kind of guy that doesn't pass judgements on 19 year olds whose bodies are still maturing, and also tend to find that what the coaching staff reveals by their actions is more reliable than random posters who have limited time actually watching players.

How is Thailand by the way?

What does where I live have to do with anything by the way? Just shut it.

for me it depends on how much rucking we want sandilands to do. anything less than 85%, imo i think tabs will struggle to pinch

EDIT: thinking over it again, i will change it to anything less than 90%

Yeah I know that. But either way it is disappointing that a guy whose career is generally regarded as being below what he can achieve given his skill level and abilities it is disappointing if he is not doing every thing possible to turn that around. Not saying that is the case by the way. But there does seem to be a clear indication that his fitness levels were not as expected even before any sense that he may have an injury.

Playing 22 games incl all finals and kicking 16 goals is hardly not holding down a regular spot
I've got an idea lets get rid of Nick and throw Sylvia in.

lol. So tell me again... I have it in for you? Hope you survive that "veiled personal attack".

Of course if he can ruck is debatable. Hence the debate.

What would happen is similar to what we do with Keplar, who also can't ruck. they provide a contest and they use their mobility at the stoppages to become another clearance player. That is the role I see for him.

His fitness levels were slightly below expectation but I think you are forgetting that he's also been pretty unlucky in that his preseason has been interrupted a number of times. He twinged his hammy very early on in the campaign and didn't run for 2 weeks. That didn't help.

I've got an idea, how about posting your best 22? It's very easy to say "oh well you can't possibly leave this guy out" and then ridicule any poster who does, while at the same time not be willing to say yourself who you would leave out of the best 22.

B: Sylvia Sylvia Sylvia
HB: Sylvia Sylvia Sylvia
C: Sylvia Sylvia Sylvia
HF: Sylvia Sylvia Sylvia
F: Sylvia Sylvia Sylvia

R: Sylvia Sylvia Sylvia
I: Sylvia Sylvia Sylvia
Sub: Fyfe, Sylvia is too good for the sub role.

When Colin Sylvia breaks into the side he may come out an explain his personal situation.
In the interim, Ross has indicated his strong annoyance at the rumours.

Before you make outlandish statements re a players ability to hold down a best 22 spot it might be a good idea to check out a few facts

Like the fact that you're a sniper who is too pissweak to post their own 22 because you'd rather reserve the right to just keep criticising those who have?

I'm not forgetting any of that. He has an established history of soft tissue injuries, and given a second home I would have thought putting in the maximum effort in the pre-season would be the best way to help overcome that. Starting earlier would have shown that, and he clearly could have done that. Do you remember Lyon's response to Morabitto's planned bali trip? Best effort is required by everyone.

I am not overly disappointed with his pre-season. If he was ready for rd 1, brilliant, but I have confidence in his abilities.

Sniping is my name sniping is my game.:thumbsu:

PS What the **ck has sniping got to do with my post
A fact is a fact ,Suban played 22 games 013 ,has had a great pre season and is best 22.Sylvia has played nil for Freo, had a crap pre and is a mile away from best 22

The difference in the Sylvia and Morabito cases is that Morabito was already injured when he planned to go to Bali, whereas Sylvia injured himself when he turned up for pre-season. In the end I guess the result is the same, but Sylvia couldn't have know in advance that would happen. Like I said he's been pretty unlucky.
