Yayyy can finally get back to what's really important, our team on paper.

B: Hind - Laverde - Ridley
HB: Francis - Stewart - Heppell
C: Langford - Shiel - McGrath
HF: Stringer - Jones - Perkins
F: Tipungwuti - Wright - Snelling
R: Draper - Merrett - Parish
I: Caldwell - Cox - Durham - Redman

- Happy to see Reid overtake Stewart asap

- I think there's something to be said for us needing a big key forward in there. Really frees up Wright, lets him ruck whenever we need and could really stretch defences. In that case, I probably see Durham being squeezed out.

- There will always be injuries so yes, others on the list would get plenty of games.

- I will change this outfit multiple times in the next few months.

BTW SUCKERS, this is a best 22 thread. Not a best 26 or best 30 thread. I don't wanna see no "Bench from" or "Emergencies" listed. GET OFF THE FENCE!

B: Ridley Reid Redman
HB: Francis Laverde Hind
C: Durham Stringer Langford
HF: Snelling Cox Perkins
F: Jones Wright Tippa
R: Draper, Merrett, Parish
Bench: McGrath, Caldwell, Heppell, Shiel

I think there is experimentation needed.

I want to see Wright given minimum 4 or 5 games where he isn’t second ruck to see if he is capable of spear heading our forward line. It’ll also be a good opportunity to get games into Bryan who seems to be highly rated internally.

I want to persist with Francis as a forward and play all of Reid, Stewart, Ridley and Laverde in one backline.

It gets said often but our best our 20-28ish is really looking strong.

Using Bunk Moreland side as reference I have all of Smith, Cutler, Ham, Reid, Waterman as guys who deserve plenty of game time at AFL next year. With Guelfi, Hurley and Philips being handy depth. That’s not even taking into account developing youngsters

Few stiff players there, but there's always injuries, no side ever gets its best 22 on paper on the field at once.

not a lot of turnover from late 2021 either. I like that
Will make for what happens in this off-season all the more interesting.
Esp our first pick.

Sadly I dont think Tippa will get back to his best :( At this stage I'd go something like;-

Reid Stewart Laverde
Heppell Ridley Hind
McGrath Stringer Merrett
Langford Jones Snelling
Hurley 2MP Smith

Draper Parish Shiel

Bench: Caldwell Cox Perkins Francis
SUB: Redman

Hard to say before the trade and draft period. From the current squad I'd have Jones, Walla, Hind, Langford and maybe Reid in for Cutler, Waterman, Gleeson, Smith and maybe Guelfi, Stewart or Durham from yesterdays 23. I want Francis in defence as well but I'd love to see Stewart and Reid combine back there with Laverde.

B Mason Redman - Jayden Laverde - Jordan Ridley
HB Nick Hind - Zach Reid - Dyson Heppell
C Kyle Langford - Jake Stringer - Andrew McGrath
HF Dylan Shiel - Harrison Jones - Archie Perkins
F Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti - Peter Wright - Devon Smith
R Sam Draper - Darcy Parish - Zach Merrett
Int. Will Snelling - Jye Caldwell - Nik Cox - Aaron Francis
Sub: Sam Durham

- Ideally would like to see Francis overtake Cutler and Reid overtake Stewart. It’s probably a stretch for Reid to overtake Stewart by round 1, but I expect it to happen sooner than later.
- Durham hard done by here but I don’t see a spot for him. Likewise I expect guys like Guelfi, Clarke, Waterman, Ham and Hurley to be well and truly in contention.
- Interested to see how good our round 1 pick is out of the gate.

I've been far from sold on Stewart as a defender but he was one of our best yesterday and should start.

OI!

Lose the “depth” you blokes. It’s approaching fence sitting. We all know who’s on our list. THIS IS FOR 22 ONLY!

(I’ll accept a sub, I guess)

I feel like Tippa & Hurley are the biggest unknowns for 2022 - both stars on their day but;-

  • Hurley was unable to get on the park in 2021 and he's not getting younger - can he come back to his best?
  • Tippa really battled in the last 2 months of the season and was clearly over weight in his last 7 games he only averaged 6.7 possessions & 0.7 goals a game before eventually being 'managed'. Will be interesting to see how/if these guys can bounce back.....

Honestly reckon the best thing to do at the start of next year is for Reid, Perk and Cox to play CHB, C and CHF in the VFL for the first month of the season, get themselves in ripping nick and come in hot.

Perkins and Cox in particular played really low reward roles throughout the year and I reckon it cost them a bit of confidence.

This is always hard but here we go:

B: Hind Stewart McGrath
HB: Ridley Laverde Cutler
C: Redman Shiel Langford
HF: Snelling Jones Stringer
F: Tippa Wright Smith

R: Parish Draper Merrett
Interchange: Heppell, Caldwell, Durham, Perkins
Sub: Cox

Redman and Langford on the wings delivering quality i50 entries or kicking goals.

McGrath down back to mind the opposition's best small forward and use his pace.

B: J Laverde Z Reid M Redman
HB: D Heppell J Ridley N Hind
C: Z Merrett J Stringer A McGrath
HF: K Langford H Jones W Snelling
F: K Baldwin P Wright A M Tipungwuti
R: S Draper J Caldwell D Parish
INT: D Shiel N Cox S Durham A Perkins
SUB: M Guelfi

B: Redman Laverde Ridley
HB: Hind Stewart Heppell
C: Cox Merrett McGrath
HF: Snelling Jones Stringer
F: AMT Wright Perkins
Foll: Draper Parish Shiel

I/C: Durham Guelfi Caldwell Langford

I don't think there's a spot for Francis in the backline with Laverde, Steward, Ridley. Then there's Reid who might need a spot if he shows a bit.
Wright, Jones, Stringer are the tall forwards. None really screams No. 1 key forward but can still kick a winning score. Expecting Jones to come on a bit.
I'm expecting bigger and better from Perkins and Cox.
Durham and Guelfi utility. Caldwell midfield rotations, Langford forward.
