Hmm brad hill and smith. Pearce and steven hill. just two teams who come to mind who have had success with outside hard running quick wingers im sure if i look this would still apply to most teams.Gaff and bugger whats his name at the eagles.Jetta at sydney not a good example complete dud but he still played in a g/f.

If you check the GF, 1st week of finals and round 23 team lists there are more ball winners than speedsters named on the wings, granted team lists are not always how they line up but it's a pretty good guide.

Might as well give it a crack.

Vlastuin Rance Grimes
Markov Astbury Houli
Ellis Cotchin McIntosh
Caddy Griffiths Rioli
Lloyd Riewoldt Edwards

Nankervis Martin Prestia

Miles Conca Grigg C. Ellis

Like it.... Not having to watch Morris, Hunt, Hamson, Lambert, Lennon, and Vickery run around.... would be bloody awesome.

Couple of slight changes for me....

Short Rance Grimes
Markov Astbury Houli
Vlastuin Cotchin McIntosh
Martin Griffiths Rioli
Lloyd Riewoldt Edwards

Nankervis Caddy Prestia
Miles Conca Grigg B.Ellis

big call..

I don't rate grigg, Macca or Ellis as midfielders
Macca is a handy flanker and the other 2 are vfl players

Graham has done nothing granted but he is a ball winner with top u18 credentials and should be given every opportunity

Was very much deliberating wether or not to place Short in the starting 22.
I really like him and it was certainly hard leaving him out.
He'd be my 23rd player easily.
It's a good 22.
No spuds, big bodies with a good mix of outside pace and ball winning grunt.
I am really hoping that tackling will be a big focus of ours next year.
It's becoming laughable how little we tackle.

My predicted best 22:

B: Vlastuin Rance Grimes

C: Grigg Caddy McIntosh
HF: Martin Griffiths Rioli
F: Edwards Riewoldt Lloyd

I/C: Miles Short Markov Conca

.

Not bad but here's my views on your team

B. Vlastuin does not have the pace to play BP on smalls he will get carved up, prefer short or Marcov, Rance and Grimes are locks
HB. Ellis and Houli are a worry, both poor decision makers and both are turnover merchants until we get them out of the side we will never improve in big games, both do some things well that inflate their status but both are suspect under pressure, prefer Macintosh, Markov, Drummond or Vlastuin here, Astbury is a lock.
C. Grigg see Ellis and Houli, if he is starting we are not going forward, Macca ok but prefer at HB, Caddy is a lock, prefer to see Cotchin, Markov, Rioli, Graham, Menadue, Drummond, Vlastuin here
HF. Love this line, Rioli is a must away from the goal square to use his pace upfield, Martin is our best 1 on 1 forward and would prefer him closer to goal but can live with the flank, Griffiths a lock at this stage but not for long and like the look of Costanza and Bolton for future HFF
F. Probably as good as it can be here Edwards and Lloyd are buying time until the speedsters are strong enough to get games, jack is a lock, would love to see Martin deep at stages
R. Hamson a lock early, Prestia a lock, need a ball magnet or grunt in here would look at Vlastuin or Graham as an option assuming Cotchin is on a wing
I. Nank and 3 kids whoever I've named but missed out on best 18 spots
Miles, Conca, Ellis X 2, Grigg, Houli, all depth

This is what I would like to see, highly doubt it will happen;

B: Broad - Astbury - Grimes
HB: B.Ellis - Rance - Markov
C: Vlastuin - Cotchin - McIntosh
HF: Caddy - Griffiths - Edwards
F: Rioli - Riewoldt - Lloyd
FOL: Nankervis - Martin - Prestia
INT: Miles - Bolton - Houli - Grigg

Points on some inclusions/exclusions here that seem to be popular in other posted teams:

Short: Like the kid, but don't see him as walk up start down back. His height and build has always been a question mark for mine.

Broad: Great size (192cm) and speed with mature body, showed signs when given a taste last year. If he develops this preseason, could be a valuable addition which doesnt seem to be getting much love elsewhere

Vlastuin
: The time has come to get him out of the backline and expose him to playing amongst Cotch, Dusty, Prestia, Caddy etc, so that he can take actually deliver on his touted leadership potential in the next few years - very hard to do from the back pocket

Bolton
: Gets in ahead of Lennon as the IC forward, primarily due to the X-factor which we've lacked for a long time in our attack (with Rioli bringing some in the later parts of last season), and to make Lennon (who wanted out - again) earn his seniors games

B.Ellis:
Was drafted as a mid-sized rebounding defender, has enough games under his belt now and may thrive playing second string to a higher quality midfield. If anything, provides the run that Yarran was meant to do from HB.

Pushing for spots: Hampson, Menadue, Conca, Lennon, C.Ellis, Short, Graham, Garthwaite

Don't see as significant in our 2017 plans: Butler, Drummond, Castagna, Elton, Maric, Townsend, Hunt, Morris, Batchelor, Lambert, Chol (R), Soldo (R), C.Moore (R)

I read it , Thats why he lost me
Ohh lol. So you don't rate broad? At the start of last pre season even jack was in awe of the kid but somehow he never got games instead we played forwards and mids in defence. Lets give him all the nab games and a couple opening games to see what he has. After all he can't be any worse then the Bachelors kickout specialist Short.
Ps i'm not saying he will make it or siding with the poster just saying give him a run after all he is on the list.

Broad can't kick. Him and B. Ellis trying to switch the ball in defence would be a nightmare.
Actually i think you are wrong as i have watched him closely and he is a nice kick. Under pressure anyone can falter. Give the dude a chance to show what he can do otherwise why have him on the list.

Problem with that argument is Broad won't be going head-to-head with Batchelor as both will be playing in the VFL.

Look I get that everybody is entitled to their opinion but Grigg came fifth in last year's JD. If he's a VFL player, then we should probably just turn out the lights and find something else to do.
