Hey guys, if you were picking the best or your favourite 22 since 1990, what would it look like? Here's my take:

B: Dylan Grimes, Alex Rance, Chris Newman
HB: Nick Vlastuin, Duncan Kellaway, Bachar Houli
C: Matthew Richardson, Trent Cotchin, Shane Edwards
HF: Joel Bowden, Tom Lynch, Kane Lambert
F: Nathan Brown, Jack Riewoldt, Daniel Rioli
R: Toby Nankervis, Dustin Martin, Dion Prestia
Int: Matthew Knights, Wayne Campbell, Brett Deledio, Shai Bolton

I get that Daniel Rioli is probably a weird choice but when we were good he was integral with his speed and pressure, can't imagine us not having that. His 2017 season is enough for me to lock him in but we know he also turned into a gun half back later too.

And yes I left out Darren Gaspar, I wasn't honestly a huge fan, he had a lot of spuddy moments. I had Astbury in at first but then remembered Kellaway.

Could almost take Ivan Maric over Nank but Nank is a triple premiership player so he gets the spot. I don't count Brad Ottens as he left too soon, but on talent he'd have been the best for sure.

Great effort, only changes I'd make are to sub out Kellaway, put Bowden in his position, bring in Broderick where Bowden was and swap Rioli with Josh Caddy in the forward line.

It's ok or good but we had some top champion players in that time nothing to support them eg poor Richo it all changed when Brown came than we know what happen. Too many to go back and look at Gaspar was super not sure if he was in that time frame fkin dementia. Rogers was quality Brendan Gale underrated, marl lee was still there, Weightman so there is more than meets the eye. Went trough our 17 team and my god i wonder how we did it, some really crap quality in reserve we must have had an awesome season with injuries.

We did have an awesome season with injuries in 2017 for sure, but we were also just really good at what we did and peaked late in the year. We had some average footballers who played really well at the time and really excelled at their roles, but then we had some absolute guns (four of them being all-time stars of the game) who were all in their prime time - Dusty, Rance, Riewoldt, Cotchin, Edwards, Prestia, Grimes, Houli, Lambert, Vlastuin, and a really good amount of speed with the 3 amigos up forward.

It's probably too top heavy but id have Ottens in there as backup ruck, think his best was bloody good even for us. Who to take out though

Just pick the 2017 team

Duncan Kellaway at CHB is an interesting take.

Where is Nick Daffy? Was the best half-forward flank in the league at his peak.

watching Ottens and Richo around that 2001 season was special.
Still the prick broke me when he wanted out ( and the fact that we wasted the draft picks received for him)
So screw him- no guernsey for him!

B: Dylan Grimes Darren Gaspar Nick Vlastuin

HB: Chris Newman Alex Rance Bachar Houli

C: Brandon Ellis Matthew Knights Wayne Campbell

HF: Shane Edwards Matthew Richardson Nick Daffy

F: Nathan Brown Jack Riewoldt Brad Ottens

R: Toby Nankervis Dustin Martin Trent Cotchin

INT: Joel Bowden Brett Deledio Shaun Grigg David Astbury

Picked my side trying to avoid recency bias and instead picked players from across the entire era whose records truly stand out. Also looked at picking players in the roles they played most of their careers in which sees some players miss out on selection that could easily be picked, if you're looking at just squeezing in the 22 best players.

wow,no Lambert, team was never the same once injuries hit him in 2021,couple that with Dustys later that same year and that was all she wrote for the dynamics of that dynasty team,we covered for Rance,Deledio,Knights,Campbell etc among others along the journeys but havent recovered as yet from losing a player of lamberts ilk, absolute superstar player of the highest, think we'll unearth the next kane lambert in the crop just drafted

Wasn’t hard in that side
2000 & 2001 sides finished 9th & 4th and had some very good players to compete against to finish top 2 in the B&F against.
