2000 & 2001 sides finished 9th & 4th and had some very good players to compete against to finish top 2 in the B&F against.
His true value showed in the Victorian team. He was absolutely brilliant against the best of the best.

I think people are forgetting how utterly awful we were for a LONG LONG time with some of these selections.

Of the blokes 1990-2000 that I'd think about finding a spot for:
Must go in:
  • Richo
  • Weightman (people forget how good he was even towards the end. Was about our only A-grader in 90-92)

Thinking heavily about:
  • Campbell
  • Knights
  • Bowden
  • Deledio (bit later than 90-00)
  • Brown
  • Free
  • Newman
  • Hoggy (before his back was cooked)

Heart and soul types that just weren't good enough when compared to the broader league:
  • Gale x2 (Brendan played some great footy but was never an A-grader)
  • Kellaway x2 (neither would play any later than when they did because of their kicking which was putrid)
  • Gaspar (as above, but tried his heart out)
  • Rodgers (consistent in a very dark time)
  • Daffy (Daffy dines out on 95/96/97 but Rodgers had a more consistent career)
  • Brodders (never elevated into the top echelon of midfielders in my view)
  • Scott Turner (beloved for his big hits and swingman 95)

My side:

Broad, Astbury, Grimes
Houli, Rance, Bowden
Knights, Prestia, Deledio
Richardson, Lynch, Lambert
Edwards, Riewoldt, Weightman
Nank, Martin, Cotchin

Free, Campbell, Rioli, Brown (only just gets in given most of his best footy was at the Dogs)

In light of the fact it was a 37 year drought breaker. Much as I loved the 95 team,
2017 delivered.
Knights, Richo extended bench.

You’ll always have Richo knights and turner in there. I’d have turner in for gaspar. Sorry gas
