It’s a pity that Langdon is the only genuine winger that we picked up, but I’m hoping that Hunt has improved his kicking routine because, if he can slow down enough to hit his targets by foot, he’d be a huge weapon for us on the wing.

I've put Harmes where I believe he's of most value to us, but if rumours of him playing at half back are correct then I'd move Hore to back pocket, Hibberd to the bench and Viney into the roving position. Not including Bennell until he proves he can get on the ground and stay there. Sadly can't fit Jones into the 22. He's been a great club champion, but his lack of pace often made him a liability last season and that can only get worse now he's a year older.

I’m going to hazard a guess that we won’t be debuting any kids in round 1 against West Coast.

Maybe look for Pickett to come in around 4-6 games into the season - or even later if we have a good start.

I also think Petty might get a spot on the bench and be used as a third tall forward a bit.

i'd replace Frost with Smith. he has the athleticism to play a bit bigger or smaller depending on the opposition. its just a question of whether he's actually good enough I suppose, but i'd give him first crack.
then i like the versatility we can maybe get from our mobile talls like Tomlinson/TMac and Smith. if Smith is struggling on a bigger opponent in defence, then we can move Tomlinson back, throw Smith forward, and have Tmac push up the ground to the wing, for example.
i also want 2 small forwards in the team. chose Pickett and Spargo, but any of ANB, Bedford, Chandler, CWagner, could also fit the bill there, depending on whoever steps it up over the preseason.

This is the best 22 I would go with, save some boring quibbling about on field/bench positions.

That said, there are plenty of opportunities for the likes of Hannan, Hore, Kolodjashnij, Petty, Lockhart, Neal-Bullen, Spargo and co to stake a claim for round 1. Hibberd and Jones are under pressure to stay in the team on 2019 form. Weideman would want to have a good year. It would not surprise me if Tomlinson struggles in a new system. Bennell and vandenBerg are easily best 22 if fit but fitness is a huge historical caveat with them. I’m backing Viney to bounce back but there’s no hiding from his awful form in 2019, ditto Brayshaw. There are also opportunities for young players like Sparrow, Jordon, Bedford, Chandler and Rivers to take a spot in the team.

Mine is more of a first round side.

Preuss and J Wagner unlucky and I’ve basically overlooked all first/second year players.

Also making the assumption that Bennell and AVB won’t be ready. Nor KK.

Weideman starts by a bees dick ahead of Petty.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Tomlinson will be crap and we all have him in the side cause he is a new guy

If I know Goody our R1 side will look like this:

B: Jetta O.Mac Lever
HB: Salem May Fritsch
C: Langdon Oliver Tomlinson
HF: Petracca TMac Brayshaw
F: CWagner Weideman, Melksham
R: Gawn, Harmes, Viney
INT: JWagner, Hibberd, Spargo, Jones

Well if he is fit there is zero chance he doesn’t get picked round 1. I reckon there is no chance that Bennell is ready for round 1 and if he ready for VFL it will be a result.

Yeah I agree - I’m just saying I think there is zero chance he doesn’t get picked because he is a new guy we traded for, not necessarily because he is in actual fact “best 22”, rather because he is “Goodys 22”
