There's a lot of height there. You have 5 talls down back, 3 tall forwards and 2 giant ruckman. Only one of Thornton, Drum or Campbell will probably play round one IMO, being replaced by shorter running players.

Love the fact that Mundy's an emergency though. :thumbsu:

Here's my team:

FF: Farmer, Tarrant, Bell
HF: Crowley, Pavlich, Headland
C: Schammer, M Carr, Peake
HB: Black, Mi Johnson, Hayden
B: Grover, McPharlin, Dodd
R: Sandilands, J Carr, Solomon

I/C: Palmer, Warnock, Gilmore, Mundy

EMG: Ma Johnson, Drum, Murphy

That may well be the side that runs out against the Pies for round one. Mark Johnson might play, but it's hard to see who Harvs will cut from that 22 to accomodate him.

I know Drum has been playing down back this preseason, but I would love to see him tried in the forward line as a third tall. I think Palmer has done enough in the preseason to warrant a position in the side. I would like to see him on a forward flank, he is a good finisher and perhaps we could give him a few short runs in the midfield to ease him into things. I think the backline is pretty much settled, I think the only major change could be Blacky onto a wing and thornton onto a back flank if Peake doesn't find form.

I have to disagree with you there. The only two players I see missing out are Warnock and Gilmore, since I don't think Harvey would want technically 3 ruckmen.

If I had to choose, I'd take out Gilmore.

I tend to agree with YM. MCarr makes a slowish midfield even slower. He will fill gaps through injury in 2008 as will McManus. Great servants of our club but the time has come for them both as it did for Cooky and Parks last year.
We need fresh faces with fresh ideas. Heres my team-

FB: Grover McPharlin Hayden
HB: Dodd Johnson Black
C: Peake J.Carr Gilmore
HF: Bell Tarrant Drum
F: Farmer Pavlich Palmer
R: Sandilands Headland Solomon

I/C: Mundy, Ma Johnson, Murphy, Warnock

Shorter forward line I know but I struggledwith started Palmer or Murphy in the pocket.

Ive noticed some people havn't put crowley in there best 22...?

I/C: Gilmore, Palmer*, Drum, Ma. Johnson**

EMG : Warnock, Foster, Thornton

* A few weeks ago i would have had Foster ahead of Palmer, but from what we have seen so far, Palmer looks to be be a gem (not that i think Foster wont be a gun himself) and would be happy to see Palmer start Round 1.

** Wouldnt be dissapointed to see Thornton take that spot either.

It looks like Thornton and Foster aren't fit enough to play any of the pre-season games so will have to work their way into the side via the WAFL.

I've left Dodd out for Drum. Drum seems better at the shutdown role without giving away stupid free kicks. I've liked what i've seen so far from Drum this preseason, i think he has better pace on the lead. Also there's little Dodd offers that Thornton or Michael Johnson can't in the defensive 50. Drum has the added versatility of being able to move forward with good effect. In fact that leads onto the reason Murphy and Mundy have been left out of the team, Drum combined with Gilmore are better utilities.

Especially having both Warnock and Sandilands in the team. Either of which can play a role in the forward line intermittently.

Peake in my opinion has been overtaken by Palmer.

Campbell has proved an effective FF option. Crashing packs and making space. His physical presence around the forward line is great. Also i rate his 1 on 1 marking ability in comparison with some of our other forward options.

Effectively our deep options become Campbell and Farmer with Pav and Tarrant doing whatever they like.

A few changes. Shorter forward line after some suggestions by above posters. Also Dodd for Drum. Watch the Adelaide replay and Dodd did little wrong.

For round 1 i'd also swap out Thornton for Mundy.
