Not so sure about Hippy playing in the ruck. Maybe a bit in the forward fifty. If he goes down due to an injury in the ruck jumping contest could be costly with our KPFs. Plus not sure how effective he would be. Big O will need a chop out but while I wish he was, I don't think at this stage he is the answer.

Hippy in the ruck just after surgery due to Osteitis Pubis seems like a real bad idea. Just think we have to suck it up with Day for a few weeks until Fort/Smith are options.

Im am in the boat of dont risk Hippy in the ruck just yet. Make sure he is recovered a little more before we do that.

I also am not as keen on us leaving Morris and smalls up forward too often. I really like how Morris is developing but think thats a lot to put on him if we played small that often. Not having that long target down the line can really hurt teams. Leaves you very exposed to be rebounded back if you cant neutralise the contest

I think picking the likes of Day for 10-15% of the game that he rucks is a complete waste given the strength of our other options. Much much rather play a smaller forward line tbh

Time to look into the crystal ball.

Someone with some posting nouse put a poll up - Day to kick 35 goals this season. Yay or Neigh?

Close enough to the Cats game to have another selection go.
Still hard for the last 2 spots unless you don't play Day/Smith as ruck relief.
Pretty much everyone will have the same players.
At least we know Hippy will play, something we were unsure of a few weeks ago.
Starcevich out makes way for 1 defense spot. McKenna the logical choice but he is not a lockdown defender.
To get team balance right, it still makes it hard for Levi.
McKenna the only true back man on the bench
Could Fagan throw a surprise and play Bailey in defense to get Levi into the side and McKenna sub if things don't work out?
If Levi gets the nod will that put Bailey as the sub

We lost one lockdown defender so that should make Answerth a lock.

The more I think about it the more I am thinking we should just roll the dice on Smith unless he's not 3-4 qtr match fit

Pretty sure that’s his first appearance at any match-sim/pre season match so far? Maybe the track watchers can correct me.

Zero chance he could run out a game right now and would be a disservice to him. Just gotta scrape by for a few weeks.

Can't see us playing him on his prep. Gardiner hasn't had a game yet and I wouldn't play him forward anyway.

So it's either Day , Fort or Gallup. Fort's hardly had a run either . I'd love to see Gallup get a slot but highly unlikely and by process of elimination we're left with Day who we got hold of for exactly this scenario so I doubt we'll give up on that before we've tried it.

Aside from your sub and purely because Gardiner is likely really underdone, it’s hard to argue anything else. That’s a great side with massive depth. We will be picking ourselves if we don’t go back to back.
