I bet you didn't think he'd be a premiership player this time last year did you?
Nah, and you did? highly doubtful! Come on who would think Byrnes would be in our best 22 this time last year. Who still thinks he is in our best 22? If Egan was back, he would have not be up there recieving that medal.
Although i was always confident we could do well this year.
And im not having a go at you. I was just interested at why you liked Byrnes so much.

Just got home - what an awesome night!!!:thumbsu:
You're so lucky! :)

Funnily enough, his looks aren't the reason why.

I do realise that he's not in our best 22, and you know what? I am capable of criticising him, but to bag a premiership player who tries his guts out in the team week after week is just unacceptable.

He's a good guy, and I don't see why I would need to justify myself anyway.

It's not like he's been crap all his career - the way you guys carry on about him, it sounds like he shouldn't even be playing in the U12s reserves.

Some of you... I really have no words to describe some of you guys. So much for support.
Eliza, I agree with you, well sort of. He was in our premiership team, I agree that we should support all of the lads, not just in that team either, every single player on our list.

However, if it means that Prismall is going to another club, or Gamble doesn't get time, then I believe Byrnes just has to go. I know you accept that he isn't in our best 22, that is a given.

I do agree with you though, no use in bagging him, I just hope that the coaching staff see the light and move onto better players replacing him.
If we don't look at that, then those players will look in other directions, something we cannot give up is talent for players who aren't so talented.

I agree with you Rosella. The atmosphere was fantastic and I don't think I've ever heard the club song sung so loudly. Both Bomber and Gary were very emotional. Congrats also to Lonergan for winning club champion. It's amazing what that man has acheived in the short time since his brush with death. We managed to come home with his premiership jumper. Darryl Somers paid $9000 for the VFL premiership jumper and $20,000 for the AFL jumper. Noice!

We support good players, who make us proud when they wear the hoops, i.e. Joel Selwood, Jimmy Bartel, not players who can't kick goals, squib contents and have a very very one dimentional game..... He is not a good player.

Sorry, it's not being harsh, it's true!

How does a thread on the best and fairest awards end up being another Byrnsie bashing exercise?

Wouldn't matter what the young fella did?

If he kicked five goals you a%*$holes would say the first one would was too high, the second too lucky, the third would be a miskick, the fourth he would have meant it to be pass, and the fifth he would have had his eyes closed.

I even recall someone recently criticising him for the goal he kicked in the grandfinal - suggesting he nearly fluffed it. Well he didn't and he made a difficult pickup at his bootlaces on the run. But no don't give him any credit for that - just bag him. You lot need to get a life!!!!

On you Shannon - great achievement in being part of a premiership team!!!

I'm wasting my time reading and replying to this bullshit.

Oh, and by the way, there's nothing wrong with the VFL.
This time last year, I didn't think any of our players would be premiership players this year. :p

Good on Daryl - I loved his poem as well - I thought it was going to be horrible and it was fun. The song at the start was awesome - good on Billy for starting it.

I didnt it was nice what he was trying to do but.. it draged out forever, but like billy said if you pay $29,000 for two jumpers you can do whatever you want. :thumbsu:

Wouldn't leave out Stevie J, Egan and Stokesy.
Egan your right. He would be a great chance.

Stokes was a big improver, but probably not to the same extent as the others, whereas Stevie J always had the ability to do what he did this year, he just got fit & determined for the first time, so I'm not sure he improved to the same extent as the other guys. I'd say he 'grew' as a player more than anything.

I was there too :D all thanks to BDP.

I've never been to anything like that before and I had a ball, the atmosphere was incredible!

Got a shot of me and Selwood, he was really lovely :thumbsu:
I was with some friends who mobbed Ryan Gamble at the end, his mum took photos off, and Ryan was telling her off for not knowing how to use the camera :p

I had a blast!!

Thanks so much BDP
