Brian Royal did a great job at Melbourne this year. He certainly improved things like our midfield and he brought new tactics to the team. He deserves a senior job.

Remember when all the scribes said that the Bulldogs had 'changed the face of football forever' when they used flooding of the defense to beat essendon ?

Well A Chris Connolly tactic destroyed all that the very next week.
Does this mean he's a better tactician than Sheedy ? Perhaps not, he had an extra week to think about it

Robert Shaw is the best AFL assistant coach out there by a country mile but no hope of being a senior coach again. Does that count as an answer?

TD is a great assistant coach, but would never be a senior coach. Tactic wise he may not be cutting edge, but he is one bloke you definately want on board.

as much as i hate to say it.... chris connellys time as an assistant may well be coming to an end soon...... hes more than ready to take up a full time coaches job...of course from a hawthorn point of view i hope he stays on forever.......

Neil Craig.

AFAIK, possesor of a 100% strike rate in AFL coaching ranks, possibly the only one.

It will be interesting to see how Bluey McKenna goes this year. If he coaches half as good as he played, he'll be a wonderful asset to the club.

What's peoples view on Peter German and can anyone tell me a little about his coaching experience (apart from working with Judge at Hawthorn)

Asgardian, I agree 100%. I have been telling anyone who will listen that Worsfold would make a great senior coach at the Power.

If ya smell what Santos is cooking!!

Tony Elshaug has been and still is a fantastic backup to Denis Pagan. It's only his low profile that has prevented him from getting a senior job to date.

Pity we'll nab him for 2002, Judge was just warming his place

David Wheadon would have to be the most experienced assistant coach, fronting up for his 17th consecutive season in the job. This includes stints at Geelong, Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood and Richmond. Interesting that takes in the 5 biggest Victorian clubs!

I think Darren Crocker's star is on the rise - maybe in 2 - 3 years he will have control of a senior job.

As, i know Hawthorn interviewed him for the senior coaching job when they appointed Schwab and were very impressed by him. I reckon if he wasnt just out of footy he might of even got the job, although im extremely happy with the appointment of Schwabby.

GE, you guys chased Kenny Judge pretty hard when he still had a year left of his contract at Hawthorn to serve, you wanted him so bad you even took Peter German (grabbed the wrong assistant, we kept the good one!) so now your stuck with him, although seeing as he has no regard for contracts i guess he couldnt argue if you dumped him.

Only time will tell if the Eagles decide to go after Woosha and dump Judge at the end of the year (when he still has a year to run on his contract)

Sounds like deja-vu.
