Anyone else try to eat where you can actually see into the kitchen?

All the time. ;)

And you don't just get this with Asian cuisines either. Lapas in Subi not only has a kitchen with glass walls, it has video feeds of the kitchen playing to the eating area on on LCD TV's.

A bloke at my old work told us a story about a job he did in a kitchen once, pulled the cover off a switchboard and all this dust and crap occidentally slid off the top and dropped into a nearby pot. Told a chef what happened and apparently he just shrugged his shoulders and simply stirred it all in lol. The funniest bit though was when his apprentice overheard the conversation and goes 'WTF?! I eat there all the time!'.

Can't remember exactly where it was but since then I've always tried to only eat at places where you get at least a bit of a look at the kitchen..

Might try and get to the Golden King after the game on Sunday.

Can recommend highly.

Simple hole in the wall place.

Half a roast duck, Stir fried Gai Lan with Ginger, Stir fried roast pork with preserved vegetables and chilli, steamed rice and a coke for $50 bucks.

Also a big complimentary bowl of tasty chicken broth at arrival.

All up, :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Especially after a win!

If you're ever in Albany, try the WA Chinese Cafe & Restaurant. I had the salt & pepper chilli squid and the chilli king prawns (yes, me & the missus both love chilli). It was so good I could have just had the vegetables it came with and still walked away happy.

You can see straight into the kitchen and watch the chinese chefs in action.

The backpacker waitresses were a bonus. :thumbsu:

Went to a Taiwanese restaurant in Sydney's Chinatown on Friday night and had one of their super spicy noodle soups. Could not possibly drink the soup. Had a nose dripping like a blood nose and felt as sweaty as a person completing a marathon after a 50m walk after dinner.

Wow sounds like you had the Barry Hall special

Yup, paying for the fact your in Crown...get jipped like on the roulette wheel.

inb4 "OMGZ Racist - I'm a Demon Baby with Worms and I am SO offended", but...

Wifey's chinese genes shine through every time we go to a Casino anywhere... she has a system with Roulette. Worst case scenario we generally tend to take a half hour longer to blow the allotted gambling cash than most. Very occasionally we come out on top. ;)

Have found a great place in Warwick for Yum Cha, called Serenade Chinese Restaurant. The owners used to run the Emperors Court in Northbridge.

Roast Duck and Roast Pork on the rotation as well as soft shell crab and crispy salt and pepper squid.

Very, very good

Nice. :thumbsu: If I'm eating dim sum at/near home I just tend to steam up some frozen hacao or siumai, otherwise we tend to trek into Northbridge. We started out at Joy Garden, then went to Dragon Palace a couple of times. Finally settled on Northbridge Chinese Restaurant on Roe Street now that's our regular.

I am addicted to hot & sour soup.

Two of the best I have had are at Yummy House in Vic Park & Foo Wah in Willetton (Rostrata actually)

Speaking of Chinese food, the Hong Kong Dim Sum Trolley in Old Shanghai (Northbridge) is pretty damn good - will likely be going there before the game on Saturday and the bar is right next door haha

Went there one night with some mates - for 4 of us it was something like $8 each and we were all pretty full

Dim Sum is great value if you're in a group of 3 or more

Is that the one in the foodcourt?
