Pfft, what amateurs.

My mighty Roos are the golden standard for choking this year. We lost to the Pies after being nine goals in front. That’s how it’s done fellas.
Half my family are North supporters, fired off many excited texts that day :$.

Has to be Carlton.

Choked on the weight of expectation.

Second on the ladder and second favourites for the flag 2/3rds of the way through the season.

Then sneak into the top 8 courtesy of double up games against Richmond and North, and go 0 and 60 in the first 55 minutes of their Elimination Final.

Agreed. Add in the epic choke against the Saints in the last round and the two chokes against the Pies and Carlton are the 2024 Choke Champions🏆

Blues were no chance of winning that game with half the team fresh out of the rehab group. Wasn't a great showing even for that but we were 0 chance of winning.

Pies fans on the other hand had spent months and months telling everyone they were going to be a dynasty with the oldest list in the competition by a country mile only to fall short and be stuck with pudding king Schultz and no first round draft pick.
Stop fat shaming Schultz!

He's just big boned.

Port Adelaide week 1 of finals
GWS in both finals.

they are the top two biggest chokes this year

This is by far the biggest choke in a game from season 2024.

To lead by 7 goals approaching 3/4 time in wet conditions and lose by 1-point when leading by 11 points with less than 25 seconds will likely never happen again in the history of the game.

Practically limping into the finals with poor form and expected to lose isn't really a choke. Whereas GWS stuffed up a potential premiership losing from 44 points down in SF and also stuffing up their QF... something you should know all too well.

A. As per my post you quoted, Carlton's was a 3 month choke, not a single game choke. In the Elimination Final, Carlton were simply not good enough - that's not a choke.

B. What would Collingwood know about straight sets exits from finals (I assume that's what you were suggesting?)

I was referring to being 44 points up in a final, then losing.

That's a much bigger choke.

In a final where the team in question were good enough to account for the next two teams?

For sure. It was a premiership chance shot.
So Carlton were never a premiership chance when they were 2nd on the ladder and 2nd favourites for the flag?

I'm glad you now agree with what I was saying at the time.

Blues were comfortably the worst choke, every level of the club absolutely crumbled under the weight of expectation

Then they panicked and refused to rest injured players which made it worse, topped off by 0-60 in their undeserved final

Possibly the biggest choke in history, any sport
