A mate of mine started a blog about coffee in melbourne recently and asked me where my favourite coffee in Melbourne is. Good question I thought.

There are probably too many to name but I find it hard to go past Brother Baba Budan in the city.

Most Melburnians seem to have take away lattes perma-fixed to their hands...where do you get you favourite coffee?

Theres about 5 excellent places the rest are pretty ordinary.

Usuually well kept secrets you discover yourself and dont want to become too popular, and over run with bogans.

There's a certain one in an alley next to the Vic markets that makes quite a nice brew. Can't think of the name of the place though. Never thought to look.

The deli at Monash Uni makes a great coffee. Think it was rated best coffee in Melbourne by the age.

Agree there Fred. The Vic Market coffee is invariably awful.

I've always liked Pelligrini's in the City. Maybe the vibe even more than the actual coffee.

I actually haven't been but have heard great things about Assembly in Carlton, they used to run El Joyero in Thornbury. They take coffee and also tea very seriously.
