No, there is a game called B.O.B. - it was a platform shooter a la Mega Man. I have it somewhere.

Anyway, best console....well for me the Dreamcast and Saturn are the top two. For fighters, arcade shooters and weirdness the Saturn is seriously a top 2 or 3 console of all time. The Dreamcast was exceptional too but....if I had to separate it I'd go for the Saturn.

I loved all the nintendo consoles NES / SNES / N64.

PS1 blew me away when it came out (using discs)

The xbox1 blew me away (built in hard drive).

Loved the Neo Geo console too, just too expensive

nope.... still exploring the PS2 backcatalogue though... will check it out.

yeah, shining force is a pretty iconic game for my childhood.

As a latchkey kid I was basically babysat by SF2 for bout a month because they had it as a display model at Myer and I just couldn't stop playing..... came back everyday to play an hour or two.

(same deal with alex kidd on the sega master system 2..... display model at K-mart...hmmm.... beginning to see a pattern... )

Now see Sonic as a franchise isn't tired, they just aren't using the true Sonic formula. Sonic was never ever all about speed, it was a combination of speed and quality platforming in fantasy-type worlds. They've gradually gone away from this over time;

Sonic Adventure - slow hunting and robot missions and a normal type city with humans everywhere which hurt the fantasy element

SA2 - quite similar and it brought a heavy story which just doesn't fit the franchise

Sonic Heroes - crap platforming.

Sonic the Hedgehog 06...went way too realistic with more human characters and the city (not to mention the other obvious flaws).

Sonic Unleashed - it appears they are replacing any trace of platforming gameplay with pure speed. It may as well be a racing game.

Seriously, what is their ****ing problem? Why is it that Sega cannot see what they are doing wrong when every Sonic fan in the world can? It isn't rocket science!

Lol yeah, so am I. I like both SA titles as well, but unfortunately as much as I love the Dreamcast I've had to face up to the fact that elements in those two games started the decline.

There is a difference between a cartoon art style, and endless cringeworthy Kojima-fantasy cutscenes forming an awkward and self-indulgent storyline, occasionally interspersed with clumsy gameplay featuring female villains seducing you to death.
