Setanta's not a ruckman. But his leap and pace are way beyond Moran. No-one in the AFL at Setanta's height matches his athleticism. It is just unbelievable. He still has a long way to go in terms of development, but his potential is just massive.

Yes, brilliant mark actually. Also fast, very fast - think he busted apart the Tiges midfield with a trademark run through the middle during our last encounter you'll recall.

Oooh, going to have to check your facts on that one. Moran set a 20m sprint record at the draft camp with a time of 2.78 - better than all the superquick midfielders running around today. It is insane for a 201cm guy, 100kg guy.

No-one in the AFL at Setanta's height matches his athleticism.

True. Moran is 2cm taller, 7kg heavier, 3 years younger and more athletic.

It is just unbelievable. He still has a long way to go in terms of development, but his potential is just massive.

As I said, i reckon he will make it. Apparently has an amazing work rate too - Carlton have had to stop him from training so much. He will be good.

Setanta's a 200cm 100kg+ running KP defender at this stage, with unbelievable athletic abilities that will enable him to play almost anywhere, once his development progresses.

You haven't seen Moran play have you? No need to bluff, he has only been out there a coulpe of times.

Anyway, to recap - 21 possessions, 10 marks, 10 hitouts on debut in a hard running, extremely athletic display. Covered an enormus around of ground and often played the running link man.

Ran with nathan Buckley in his second game and shut down what was up until that point looking like a good game from Nath. Kept him to 6 possessions in a half of football, using his pace to keep up with and then overtake Buckley to spoil as the ball was delivered into the forward half.

Showed a suprisingly good ability to read the play given he only start playing football 3 years prior.

This is at 19. Imagine what he wll be like when he is Setanta's age!!

Huge potential. Most athletic big guy in the game bar none.

Saw him play both games. Was good V Hawks, but didn't do too much V Pies. Both these teams are pretty ordinary and hardly a challenge BTW. Can't remember him playing in 2005 or earlier in the season. Was he injured or just not up to it? Looks more of a mobile Ruck type. Nothing special

Setanta has 4 years on Moran. And Brad has still made a far more assured start to his AFL career.

The football world will be Brad Moran crazy by round 6. He is a freak.

Definitely drafted as a project player. As I mentioned, he had only taken up AFL football 3 years prior to the draft, so he was learning the game much like Setanta (ableit a lot quicker).

Anyway, was always supremely athletic (not suprising seeing as his dad played for Aston Villa), but his rate football improvement in the VFL this year was amazing.

Another factor is that he was definitely percieved as a ruckman, and with North having two of the most promising ruckman in the league in Hale and McIntosh - it was hard to break into the team. Anyway, he got his chance and certainly grabbed it (I believe his stats in game 1 exceed all of Sentanta's career highs so far - plus there is the rising star nom)

So impressive was his AFL debut that now both Moran and the NMFC are talking about utilising his amazing athletic ability and playing him as a running midfield player or on a wing.
