Ok motorsport fans

There are lots of different kinda motorsports around, and they all require a high level of skill (not to mention courage) on the part of the drivers.

So which particular motorsport has the most skillful drivers ?

I nominate rallying, 200km/h + on winding dirt roads, in all weathers takes a helluva lot of driver skjill I reckon.

... and I'm personally biased too, being a New Zealander, I grew up with rallying, its a big sport in NZ with alot of participants and the New Zealand Rally has been part of the World Championship for many many years.

what is your choice ?

what motorsport has the most skillful drivers ?

- with apologies to the all the bikers out there, we'll only look at the 4 wheeled motorsports at this stage.

cheers

I have to say Formula 1. The speed and control must take a heap of skill.

Special mention to Speedway though. I grew up with my dad driving super sedans and I loved that atmosphere. And the Sprintcars were ace too.

id say formula one for skill....CART/Indycars for Courage.
It doesnt take much skill to drive a car on an oval all day but it takes a damn lot of courage seeing as you know if you make a mistake you could well be in a coma for a while

Interesting question....in terms of sheer skill I'd have to give F1 the nod.

F1 cars are the hardest to drive in the world (although traction control has made it a bit easier) and watching the best drivers do lap after lap at almost identical speed is pretty incredible.

Rally drivers show great skill in that they adapt to different conditions and have to race different courses, but you have to remember they have a navigator, and their cars have a lot more computer driver aids to make the car easier to drive than an F1 car.

F1 drivers also have to deal with other cars and overtaking, which takes incredible skill in itself. Rally cars only race against the clock.

Formula 1- best 22 drivers in the world, most money spent on it etc etc

it doesnt get any better really..and to have drivers covering 4-5kms of track in thousands of seconds within one another shows how good they are!!

It was a hard choice between F1 and Rally!

I finally went for Rally!

Driving around on gravel roads at those speeds requires a **** load of skill! Believe me I drive on a gravel road every day and just doing 100kph is bad enough!!!!

Well I voted for the 2 litre class. These are the only guys that go out and deliberately make contact with each other on the track. Makes for interesting tactics when you know the guy behind you is trying to elbow you off the track at every corner.

Go the biff!

Gotta go F1. At the sort of speeds they go and to keep everything under control lap after lap and the intense heat inside the cockpit, just immense concentration and talent. One minute mistake, one millisecond and its all over your into the wall or in a spin..just amazing.
