Alf-Inge Håland had a good career with Forest, Leeds, City and Norway. His son Erling looks like he will be a superstar striker. Only 20 years old - 21 goals in the Bundesliga so far this season and 10 goals in the Champions League.

Frank Lampard Snr is a West Ham legend but only got 2 England caps. His son Frank started at West Ham but spent most of his career at Chelsea. One of the best Premier League players ever and 106 England caps.

Johan Cruyff - one of the best players to have played the game. His son Jordi showed some promise but was never consistent at the highest level.

Peter Schmeichel. Arguably the best goalkeeper in the Premier League era. Five Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League. 129 caps for Denmark and the European Championship trophy in 1992. His son Kasper has 62 caps for Denmark and a Premier League title with Leicester.

Paul Ince - a hard working attacking midfielder who had a long career in the Premier League with several clubs including trophies with Man U. 53 England caps. His son Tom is having a good career at Championship level.

Who is the best father son combination? Who have I missed?

Think you're being generous with the word 'good' there.

Damn. The Maldinis win this easily. 11 Serie A titles and six European Cup/Champions League trophies with the same club, and another generation looking promising.

With a bit of luck they could have won more at international level.

In the 1990 World Cup Italy lost on penalties in the semi-finals to eventual finalists Argentina.
In the 1994 World Cup Italy lost on penalties in the final to Brazil.
In the 1998 World Cup with Cesare as coach and Paulo as captain, Italy was eliminated on penalties in the quarter-finals by eventual winners France.

Random fun fact too - Enrico played with Buffon in 1999 at Parma, now Federico plays with Buffon at Juve.

Eidur Gudjohnsen made his international debut coming on as a substitute for his father. The Icelandic FA told the manager not to play them on the pitch together that game so that the moment could be saved for the next home fixture. Of course Eidur broke his leg and by the time he recovered his father had retired. Robbed of such a special moment.

He's also got 2 sons at Real.

Absolutely good choice for this thread. I knew Thiago was the son of Mazinho and I was gobsmacked when I found out about it a few years ago. :p
