Best final game? Roughys six goals?

Worst final game has to be Dane Swan, through no fault of his own.

You have to consider that it was the opening minutes of the first game of the season, that puts it right up there as a disaster.
That was a very sad ending to a great career, but Neil Sachse would probably have that covered!

Interesting just looking at this now, although it lacks context to indicate that some on the list weren't at the end of their senior careers, just the VFL stint.

Blight is best known, played more great footy in SA, as did Rick Davies after a single season with Hawthorn.
Malcolm Greenslade is more obscure. His 2 match stint for Richmond were right in the middle of his (very good) career in SA and was due to National Service.

Sharrod Wellingham, if the criteria is fully fit with no subsequent injuries

Best final game, maybe not from a personal stat perspective, but definitely Shane Crawford had the best day of this life and career in his final game.

Winston Abraham's might be up there. First game of 2001, first few minutes, he finally steps onto the field. Twenty-seconds later, James Hird takes a mark, Abraham runs into him, nearly knocks himself out, lands badly on his left knee, tore his ACL, gives away fifty, ends his season, and gets delisted when his new lab-grown knee ligament ends up being unsuccessful.

I remember Marc Dragicevic. Did a knee as a kid (I was there at Docklands) - missed a year or so. Came back and was picked for the first Practise match next season - which was televised. He was in the centre square, obviously tagging someone, Ump holds up the ball to bounce it, Dragicevic's opponent moves to one side, Dragicevic follows him and just falls over - untouched. Another knee. The ball might have been bounced just before he hurt himself, but certainly no more than 2-3 seconds of game time.

He did come back another year or so later - but he had no pace anymore and only played a couple of games.

I remember that. James Hird and Essendon at the height of their powers, so everyone was coming at them with aggression. Winston was just the latest who tried to rough up Hird, and it ended badly for him.

Much like Lecras. Not a great performance on the day but a premiership player none the less

You can use this - one of the last columns has a "Last Game" filter. You can then filter by pretty much any combination of match details and also the player's State of Origin, Indigenous heritage, etc.

Eg.

Most goals kicked in final V/AFL game by a non-Victorian player:
8.2 J.Kennedy WC (WA) R21, 2022
6.3 M.Greenslade Rich (SA) R4, 1971
6 C.Laird Sth.Melb (NSW) R18, 1922
