There have been a truck load of impressive debuts at Collingwood by players that no one remembers. I still recall Peter McKenna proclaiming Gordon Sumner the Brownlow Medalists after he gave him 3 votes on the WOS panel. He later walked away from VFL footy because he didn’t like the intensity of it all. Simon Taylor and Damien Houlihan come to mind also.

I recall Daicos too Cyclops. I had been waiting for it and it didn’t disappoint. From the first time I saw him in the magoos he looked a million bucks. That is no measure of my judgement though because I thought the exact same thing about Chris Dalkin as well.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but Mark Dwyer from Fitzroy (later St. Kilda) got 3 Brownlow votes for each of his first 3 games. Pretty hard to top that.

A very good debut that i saw for the doggies was Brad Murphy against port late in the season in 2003 i think.
Any way he played in the midfield, he picked up 28 positions took about 8 marks and kicked 3 goals 2 behinds but never produced that form again.

A P Daicos had his debut vs St Kilda in 1979 at Vic Park, only managed 30 touches. Did he go on to do anything else?

Funny thing about that game, I can recall my old Dad beaming with pride about Picken's game at CHB, but I don't think of us really noticed Daics except when he banged an easy shot on goal out on the full.

When you win a game by 178 points (as the Pies did that day), you'll turn on anyone for not making it 184!!

Was a record margin until the Fitzroy vs Melbourne game later that year.

Yes, but he did end up having a very sucessful singing career with the Police.
