If any of you guys are in Warrnambool Victoria, go to the Mortlake Road Fish n Chip shop on the same side as the vets. Just say a mad Swans supporter sent ya. :thumbsu: They have the best spud cakes going around. :thumbsu:

went to sotos friday night with the gf and ate it on the beach.. expected a little better due to other people rating it so high. was great chips, everything else was just standard seafood you'd get from your average fish n chips shop

That's what I posted earlier - it's over-rated IMO.

As you say, the chips are damn good but the rest is dead set standard.

Never been to Sotos (is that right?) ill have to try it one day.
I have a local Fish and Chip shop on Goodwood road i would have to say they are extemly nice.

Good taste Springy.

Sadly their chips have gone down the frozen chip path, but a fresh chicken from Tequila is still to kill for!! Had one last week-end!!

I haven't been there for at least 10 years but I haven't had anything since that has even come close. Their chips used to be as nearly as good as their chicken.

Just out of interest how many of these chips are of the fresh cut kind (not coming in big bags...), as I am no aware of any places in my area (around Clarendon down to Woodcroft) that sells them. I can't actually remember eating any either in Adelaide at all for that matter and would love to find some. Nothing here like you can find in the UK.

Don't know about fish, but the best chips (and are freshly cut daily) are the chips at the ckicken chef on main north road.

And no, not all Chiken Chef's are the same as other chicken chef chips seem to taste different to the one on main north road.

Is that right??

I've had 'em a few times from Chicken Chef Main North Road and their chips are legendary. They are freshly cut and they cover them with chicken salt unlesss you ask for regular salt.

Never tried them from another Chicken Chef because I didn't know there was one.

Yeah I've tried chips from a few other Chicken Chefs and they are definitely not freshly cut.

Main North Rd is still the best I've had in Adelaide.

I'm one of those that hates chicken salt and prefer regular salt.

Geez, I'm sounding like a fish and chip addict but you're dead right!! :thumbsu:

I've had them from both and as you say the one you mentioned - it is called something along the lines of the original fish and chip shop - has really good tucker.

The other one is pretty ordinary and the one time I went there I ended up feeding it all to the seagulls in the main street - before noticing the no feeding the seagulls here sign!!

My favourite chips are from Chicken Cave, on the cnr of Valetta & Tapleys at Fulham. Great chips.

Agree 100%, the chips were great but the burger/fish etc are standard. If you are a chip conniseur then get down there and check 'em out.

Macca, you are right about the chicken cave, all their food is on point, especially the gravy.

Sotos is now vietnamese
Just back from three weeks in Vietnam and fish and chips are not a speciality
there:D
Down Victor go to the place on the esplanade on the way to the bluff
