A trustworthy workmate told me that a certain Hawthorn premiership player in 2008 was Eric Edgar Cookes grandson..

Is this the WA killer who Tim Winton writes about in Cloudstreet?

A very very tragic childhood.... just goes to show.

Cooke was the last man executed in WA back in the early 1960’s. A brutal serial killer, he ended up swinging from the gallows in Fremantle gaol.
Eric Edgar Cooke's son was Tony Cooke who died earlier this year and was a big wig in the trade union movement. I met him once in the 90's without knowing his history, must have been a huge burden to bear but he certainly forged his own path. BTW LR is the Hawthorn player Trent Croad?

CB are his initials..

Hmm.......dickhead, with a dickhead father.....

I'm guessing it wasn't Chance Bateman.

I can find no way that the other CB is related to Edgar Cooke.

CB’s father is a famous hot head.

By the way, Tony Cooke was a top class person. Respected across the community.

Surprisingly no one's mentioned Don Scott
When he went over to coach South Adelaide back in 1985 the story goes at the first players' meeting he told them he was gay/bi and anyone who didn't like it could get ****** then and there
South lost it's first seven games of the year and Scott quit and went back to Melbourne

My old man went to the school with Don , was a strange unit even back then by all accounts . Was also pretty widely acknowledged at school that he could swing the ball both ways. Couldn’t even get into their year 10 footy side .

Obviously improved a fair bit from that point .

This is how Bucks has always been. He is a genuine person and still to this day gives his all to the fans and the game, no matter what club they support. I think most people would find this out pretty quickly if they met him.
Continuing the Bucks love fest . Myself and a group of mates crossed paths with him in at the casino in the mid 2000s .
One of my mates made some bad jokes and Bucks actually stopped and had laugh about it , would have been well within his rights to clock my mate .
He then spent 15 minutes chatting to us all about footy, what clubs we played for , what we enjoyed about the game and stuff like that .
Was a real class act and I’ve found it impossible to dislike him since then .

Let’s get real. There are more gay players, permanent and transitional, than are ever speculated about.
Take one from my era and I’m a Carlton supporter. Aaron Hamill.
Long speculated to be gay.
In fact John Elliot is rumoured to have accused him of being gay, in the presence of others at the Carlton B&F, when he was on the verge of leaving Carlton for St Kilda. Why he did that remains a mystery. I don’t care what he or anyone says, going to St Kilda was not to his benefit.
He is now into his 50’s. Never married. No kids.
Definitely gay.
Why are you so obsessed with players' sexualities?

This one I can vouch for cos I seen photos
The daughter of my mates secretary was getting some uninvited texts from Chad the wingard which continued despite her saying she had a boyfriend and wasn't interested
When they progressed to dick pics is when he stepped in and said the next lot get shown to the club and that did the trick

I saw Trent Cotchin at a grocery store in Coburg a few years ago. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Jake Stringer frequently used staff members to pop over to the TAB around the corner in Footscray when at training, giving them cash to place his bets all throughout the week. Would then often leave training and go straight down to the TAB himself at the end of the day.

Seems stupid enough to not just use betting apps

On the topic of big name criminal father sons, Brenden Abbott – the Postcard Bandit – had a nephew, Brenden Abbott, who was on Collingwood's list for a year in about 2014.

Brenden was a nice guy and a natural sportsman. While playing state footy for WA, he got a call from his mum back home, packed his bags and left immediately without telling anyone. He didn't get drafted that year with all clubs thinking he was some unreliable flighty kid. They found out he was caring for his mum who was really really sick at the time. Pies picked him up straight from country footy and after kicking about seven goals in the VFL and being told he was close to debuting, he left again to look after his mum, without telling anyone at Collingwood FC. Career done, but in a pretty noble way.

75% of posts are either “this bloke bats for the other team” or “this bloke likes drugs”.
I was wrong.

90% and rising.

All he had to do was make a call to the pies prior to leaving and he probably would have been retained
