Fremantles off season dramas about to get much much worse from what ive heard. The sackings were a agreed decision but the next direction is really quite split in regards to what way to go. It will be either Dale Alcock or Peter Bell that takes control and both have different ideas for the clubs future. Alcock wants elite coaching staff and pretty much wants to spend crazy money on coaching staff whereas Bell wants to focus on drafting/trading expenditure. (am assuming Alcock wants to buy a coach from a rival club at the moment but who is anyones guess). Whoever gets his way will still sack alot more people then the two that have left so far

Both cant be done due to luxury taxes on football dept spending so only one person can get his way. Knowing a bit about how Alcock conducts his business ie. if your house falls over its not my fault, for Freos fans sake id hope Bell wins as essentially he is correct. Coaching isnt the problem, poor draft choices are. Cerra over Naughton being a prime example.

Why are they incompatible?

Surely there isn't a huge difference in the average drafters and the hyped up ones. How much will a change cost? If you're smart about it, surely it'd only cost an extra 2-3 hundred grand? I also get the feeling it's a young man's game. Surely there are guys heavily involved in the youth set-up in WA who can jump on board.

Things like overlooking Naughton, the McGoverns, Tim Kelly etc all come down to a drafting culture. Freo had a weird obsession with 75 kilo, 6'1 wingers who could 'play anywhere' who were generally from Melbourne. Lasted years and brought absolutely no one good into the team. Surely you can just rejig the panel so there's more Perth staff and less spent in Victoria? Surely you can just change the way it's all set out, and mandate that WA players are a priority? That skills are a priority? etc etc.

Eds dad was at the best and fairest last year, where Ed won the players award and in his speech thanked Ross Lyon for everything he has done for him and said he wouldnt be where he is without him! It's pretty common knowledge that Ed and Ross have a really strong relationship, bizarre angle

Edit: plus his brother highly considered joining freo last year, if his dad hated the club to the point he is dragging Ed from it why would Tom even entertain the idea!
unless what you're speaking of has happened between then and now but i'm not sure why it would, Freo has invested a lot in Ed and theres been no change in situation between then and now

I dont think Ed has a problem with Fremantle. Its his Dimir Dokic dad that does. Im certain the relationship between them all only soured this year as Fremantle are not happy he is trying to talk Ed into leaving

The dad does the contract negotiations for both brothers. He isnt a agent since he doesnt have accreditations but he does all the work though

Im not 100% sure what is meant by large spending on drafting but am assuming it means more staff and poaching other clubs staff at this stage

Seems it could be done cheaply. Just create a new set of guidelines and requirements for players. Knock off staff in Melbourne, hire some guys involved in the state set-up. Aren't a lot of these staff part-time anyway? Ie generally only doing one day a week all season then a few more around July-September?

Can be cheap but Bell wants it done expensively is the crux of it. He pretty much wants to create the most expensive and best scouting team in the AFL. I dont know what that entails unfortunately. I dont even know if he will get his way ffs :D

Gold Coast put in a proposal for football department expenditure allowances for player relocation and welfare (ie. in other words Gold Coast pays for Jack Lukoscious mummy to come watch him play every X weeks)

Contrary to popular belief Gold Coast are in a good final position and can probably afford such absurd expenses

Have you watched the mini documentary Richmond: The Fighting Fury???

Gives a great look into all the issues surrounding that club leading into season 2017. Worth a look.

& he's got a flag, so he has a flag & 200 x AFL games, slag him as you will, its pretty transparent, the green eyed monster ....

You can say the same about Ben Cousins. Just because a bloke can kick an inflated bladder, run around a paddock better than most, and win medals doing it doesn't make them above reproach.

I don't think people give a flying f
If players do drugs. They Care that they are treated equally when they get pinged.

Lyon had the similar views on culture at Fremantle. Just be able to play come gameday.

Odds on first team to get in post season trouble now that it's mad monday.

Dees 2-1 (spoiled, entitled brats)
Saints 5-2 (should be fav based on past)
Power 3-1 (led by SPP, should go close)
Roos 7-2 (it's in their DNA)
Blues 5-1 (have their fair share of dumb footballers who make dumb choices)
Dockers 6-1 (Maybe rtb will give outgoing tips on sexual harrasment)
Crows,Hawks 10-1 (bunch of old granpas likely playing it safe)
Swans 15-1 (outta sight, outta mind)
Suns 20-1 (nobody cares)

Does Bennell count for the Dockers? Surely he brings their odds in a bit
